I was cleaning out a corner of the garage and found 3 cardboard boxes with these inside.

I went to CMP and can't even find HXP listed on their website. What is a can worth now? What else is everyone using?

Thanks,

You know I do not fully understand the prices I see at shows and the like for the Greek 30-06 ammo.

I will see it many times at 1 dollar a round and up..

But

Right now one can order new PPU M1 garand 30-06 ammo in an ammo can for 374 - 330 for a 500 rounds 75 - 66 cents a round delivered..

Now in your can you get En blocks & Bandaliors so that must count for something.

Also I like the spam can look on those.

Take a look on GB advanced search for completed ads and look at CMP forums WTS ads. About $175 for 240 rnd spam can without enblocs? IIRC, they were about $135 when CMP was last selling them. I think the original price was 2 spam cans (480 rnds) for $150-$175.

HXP-69 in cardboard packaging.
Sealed, in good condition cans.
The last time CMP offered these (IIRC) was two cans in a veneer wood box for $192 plus shipping.
Now I'd say the price per can would be roughly $125-150 per can, maybe more to a starving Garand from the Philippines.

Never owned an M1, but can’t it just shoot 30-06 ammo? Is there something different about “Garand 30-06” ammo?

The pressure curve for 'modern'/hunting 30-06 ammo is higher/peaks faster and causes the action to cycle more rapidly and violently than necessary- or designed for- leading to bent operating rods, excessive bolt lug wear/peening, etc. The best fix is to either shoot appropriate ammo or use an adjustable gas plug, which enlarges the area into which the gas expands (decreasing peak pressure) before it reaches the point where it causes the piston to move rearward, cycling the action.

AHA! Thank you for that explanation.
