WTF did I find In My Shotgun?

I broke out an old Wingmaster today that I've never fired and the bolt wouldn't go into battery so I took the barrel off and tried dropping a shell in.

It stopped about 3/8ths of an inch from going in and wouldn't go any further.

I ended up driving this thing out of the chamber with a cleaning rod.

Does anyone have the slightest idea what it might be?

The three things that look like O rings are, and it was a nice snug fit.

The step inside looks like you could drop some kind of rimmed cartridge in it, but it would be 2+" away from the bolt face.

Some knothead tried using one of those ceterfire adapter kits, most likely.

How?

This thing goes all the way to the end of the chamber and a 2.75" shell almost chambers behind it.

It does look like a .45LC or .44 mag MIGHT fit in it, but the bolt face and firing pin would still be 2.5 inches away from the cartridge.

Mystery solved!

Its a blank adapter used for a muzzle mounted gas grenade launcher used in prisons and for riot control.

It allowed a special blank to be fired while keeping a live round from accidentally being chambered.

Where are ya gonna get some of those blanks and the grenade launcher and some gas grenades?

You can feel it when you hold it.

I put it up for sale once and the guy picked it up and immediately said "Its a little rougher than I thought. I dont want it" .

People come into my house where its leaning in the corner and pick it up and kind of shudder then put it back down.

If there was ever a haunted gun, this is it.

Probably just as neat as those Angola prison guns that Molivo got a while back
