Shorter (Legal) Long Guns in a Safe

Post by Taco »

In my safe the rest to lean long guns assumes that all you own are 4' shotguns and muskets.

How does everyone else store ARs or other non-gigantic rifles? Was I supposed to make a shelf/bench for the long gun side?

It seems to me if the safe manufactures say “it’s a 24 gun” safe, they designed the safe for 24 lever action .22’s without scopes.
I’m my safes I’ve removed the “barrel rests” and went to Lowes and some of that nicer plywood and cut new barrel rests spaced further apart.
I’ll post a picture tonight.

Yes, bench. Plus now you have additional storage space under the bench.

Wal-Mart racks Crickets and Rascals right next to full length guns by putting a cleaning rod down the barrel.

A wooden dowel would work.

I just throw them in the back, haha.

I can't fit my 2 muskets any further back than the first row because they end up hitting my top shelf. ARs, AKs and 18.5" shottys just rest in the back on top of each other. I have gun socks over the guns that don't get used to help keep the "safe rash" down on them bumping each other.
