Desert Eagle problem

Post by creophus » Mon Jan 29, 2018 3:39 pm

Got a problem with a DE not firing. The issue seems to be that about 70% of the time the hammer stops before hitting the firing pin. This happens when the gun is supposed to cycle or when manually working the hammer. I can see it not hitting the firing pin most of the time. Not sure what the problem is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

there is a lot of actions going on in a DE hammer assembly, the hammer spring bracket can get dislodged, there is a bushing that looks like a roll pin but its cut on each end, that can also rotate, the main part is not mangling up the trigger bar assembly spring or losing the slide stop spring when disassembling it...too much to describe over the phone or in text, I can look at it if you wanna bring it up to my shop, I'm in Inverness.....you'll have to drop it off as I'm too busy to do any on the spot repairs.

also parts pretty much have to come from Magnum and they are super slow in sending them out, I've disassembled and reassembled over 1000 of those during the time I worked at Ford's
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

I took the gun down and cleaned it really well. Oil was everywhere! I think this may have solved the problem, but I've got to shoot it to be sure.
