Either we are responsible for our actions or we demand that others are.
We are only our Brothers' Keepers if we choose to be.
Otherwise we are slaves.
It isn't an all or nothing scale. We are all dependent on others to some degree or another. E.g. the army protects us from invasion and murder. Does relying upon our servicemen to keep isis from killing my family make us slaves? That is, or course, the most extreme example, but also perhaps the best a non-soldier can give.

Neither the police or military is obliged to save you or your family from anyone.
That's your job.
Any help from those quarters will be mostly incidental to their normal and well defined duties.
If you are not prepared, expecting anything else will be disappointing.

You may not think they are protecting you and your tough guy stance and you glock is keeping isis at bay, but that's a delusion.

If there's delusion it is expecting others to value you as much as themselves.
It's just human nature.
We are not generally as self sacrificing as some imagine.
Here's hoping you don't have to discover it the hard way.
Toughness has little to do with it.
It always helps, but it's preparation that counts far more.
Are you prepared?

It is not the tool! It is the person. No need for guns to kill. Hell, just this morning my neighbor bagged a 6 point big buck crossing the road in front of my house.

She did not have a gun but still killed!

Yeah I know, bad argument but funny none the less. Not so funny is her car. That is one messed up little Nissan. She hit it at a pretty good rate. I dragged it out of the road after making sure she was OK. Got her car into our driveway out of the road and called her dad. Hung the deer in the tree! He is being processed by my sons in the kitchen as I type.

So all in all it was a good day. And after all that I still say get rid of career politicians that have proven over and over they will never get anything done and we might see some progress.
