Wait times to get quicker ????

Post by Rentprop1 » Fri Jul 14, 2017 9:48 am

saw this on Instagram from The American Suppressor Association

now keep in mind these are the same folks that worship the " Promise of HPA from the Messiah "
ATF advised us they can process 8,000-10,000 applications per week. When we talked to them in mid-May they had a backlog of 130,000 applications (ALL types, including F3's, etc.) and about 30,000 pre-41F forms that they had expected to have cleared by end of June or early July.
My last one was 10 months 3 days

all of my Pre 41F forms have come back and have been back for a month or so

I sold a can yesterday and told they guy expect 10 months, but in all honestly if they keep the staffing levels that have now its possible we see 120-140 day wait times not too far in the future ??? thoughts ??
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

I saw the figures you posted over at NFA Tracker a while back.....

My observation is that the actual processing is closer to 5,000 a week......it's mid July and they are just "wrapping up" the pre-41F Efile submissions....so lets say it took them from mid-May to the mid/end of July to process 30,000. That's approx. 4500-5000 per week (being generous there).

Looking at the rest of the numbers.....130K total pending, means that since the 41F "cutoff", they have received, on average, 10K submissions per month (July '16-May '17).

If they maintain the staffing levels, and production levels, they could process a months worth of post-41F submissions every 2-3 weeks.

I'm guessing my April '17 F1 could come back in around September-October......5-6 months....

Still better than a year

I can't see that being true, most of the industry noted steep drops off in sales after the elections, I can only go by the serial numbers on cans I get from the largest wholesaler, if 7 months later only 40 or 50 numbers have elapsed of a particular model then in retrospect not a lot of forms are being submitted :-k

I'm just basing it off the stated numbers......

If in Mid-May there were a total of 130K pending submissions, and 30K of those were pre-41F, that means that between the July 12'th cutoff, and "mid may" 2017, an additional 100K submissions had been received......that's a period of 10 months.....avg 10K per month.

There are a lot of folks who have never wanted to deal with trust hassles....and many who lived in states where a trust wasn't immune to CLEO or state-level review/approval.

41F was a win-win......and if you compare submission numbers post-41F, to those before 41F became a "panic" for people too paranoid to get fingerprinted, you'll see that it has brought substantially more people into the NFA community

Someone lost something dude...better call your dealer or call atf and ask..........we had an error on a form pre 41F where the Sheriff signed the wrong spot and got it kicked back and it still already came back approved even with the hold uo of getting it resigned on the correct line

Firstly, I have 3 more form 4s that were submitted pre 41f, submitted July 1, still waiting on approval from Silencershop.

Secondly, I called atf after 1 year, for them to tell me to resubmit the form 4 for another suppressor through another dealer. They lost my paperwork and the $200 tax stamp check. Which was in the exact same envelope of another form 4 that was approved in April 2017.

I front care what anyone says they are still disorganized, and when you call them could care less about being herlpful.

No, the dip-sh|t dealer f'ed up. I will name them after my stamp comes in.

First had to wait on the Form 3 @ 3 months.

Initial Form 4 wasn't signed in the correct spot (even though I asked the dealer if I should sign there..."No", he tells me..."I've done thousands of these before! I know what I'm doing." =:wvr Never heard of the ATF rejecting a form because it was signed too many times... ). 9 months passed before I finally called the ATF to find out the application was rejected. (It sat on someone's desk @ ATF for 6 months).

By the time I re-submitted, 41F had taken effect. That was last July. Today is one year later. Nuthin.

So... 3 months, + 9 months + 12 months = 2 yrs.

I will NEVER do a Form 4 again. If I can't build it, I don't want it.

I was on the phone w silencer shop earlier this week. The guy I was talking w stated that pre 41f, they were doing 2000 cans per day to around 50 per day after. Pretty substantial drop off... it will be interesting to see if times come down.

Paid with a cc last time,

This time it will be with a personal check.

I had one go through OK with a cc, so I figured the next one would also.

Not so, #2 &#3 were screwed up.

#2, got approved in April.
#3 getting resubmitted.

On the brighter side I did pick up a YHM LTA 30 cal from my other dealer today.

That one was submitted 7-7-16, approved 7-20-17.

So is the wait times finally coming down now? I'm see people post on NFATRACKER , stating they are getting them back from 6-8 months

Ive already seen January submissions ( individual ) so 8 months , the number of applications since Jan and thru May of 2017 is way down , so if ATF keeps staffing at current levels we could see 5-6 month approvals if submitted by Christmas time, thats just a guess tho.. :-k

Got a Feb 15 back yesterday for an FSN member. Filed as individual....still a bunch of trust files from Nov and Dec unaccounted for....

My recommendation going forward . ..
Think long and hard and weigh the options of trust vs individual .

Just filed my Form 1 as individual, according the nfa track people who filed as individual in march and April are getting approvals back . Apparently trusts are lagging behind according to them also

Hi guys just wanted to add my experience. I bought a AAC SR-5 Suppressor a couple months ago from the Armories in Winter Garden. They have this kiosk there that is run by silencershop, com i believe it is. Anyways i had my trust paperwork w me and the guy there said file individual its a lot easier and no cleo signoff anymore. So i did, I was fingerprinted, pic taken and done w everything including paying $200 for stamp via credit card in about 5 min. About a month ago they cashed the check AAC wrote on my behalf so we shall see.
So anyway my point is, holy s';t was that a smooth process. I'm most defin gonna be getting a can now for my Glocks as well.
