Who goes hog hunting?

Will you allow a newbie to tag along!?!?!??!

What i want to do is tag along with someone who hunts on WMA's. I don't want to go to a ranch/farm and shoot a hog in an enclosed area. So if anyone is willing to guide me please contact me.

Your best bet is to scout Craigslist. I have seen guys that will guide you in public Land

I have a hunt booked with this guy April 22 to introduce a bird hunter to hog hunting. Will provide a thorough after-action report.

Yes they do but they still can't clean them worth a damn.
When they are done half the hog looks like ground meat.

I'm looking for someone in the Melbourne area who wants to go. I've had 100% success at a place west of Lake Okeechobee.
We start on a stand and then, if we don't score, we follow the dogs. I won't hunt with "capture" dogs. Shooting a hog that's being held by dogs isn't for me.

Personally I wouldn't want to hunt hogs with dogs at all because the hogs carry disease that is fatal to the dogs. I love dogs and wouldn't want to put the dog at risk of that. It's commonly called "mad itch" due to its symptoms and it has a 100% fatality rate in dogs. It's fairly common for hunting dogs to die from it is my understanding.

I only go hog hunting on weekdays, because the weekends tend to be pretty busy.
The more hunters you have, the longer it takes, because you stay on the buggy chasing hogs until everyone gets one. Personally, I don’t like my hog riding on the buggy for a few hours in the heat without being dressed and skinned and quartered and on ice.

I’m retired, so it isn’t a problem for me. If you work for a living and can’t get a day off, that can be a problem.

Anyhow, I’m looking at May 9th, 10th or 12th. Most Thursdays are good for me. I have an SUV and can drive. It’s a 2 hour drive, so we have to be on the road by 3:30AM.

How’s that sound?

I have also hunted with them quite a few times and had 100% success! Haven't been there in a while due to having a buddy that has some property up in Georgia that I can't hunt now. Longer drive but I can hunt as long as I want.......free!
