FSN Status Update:

Post by John K » Wed Jul 30, 2014 11:50 pm

While we were in the process of upgrading the server we had a crash. An unforeseen glitch caused the previous compressed archives to be corrupt. Our only uncompressed backup was from June 13th. Many of July's posts were lost due to the corrupted backups.

All facets of the forum are now up to date, new features are installed, and will go hot later this summer. We will be merging the missing topics [that we are able recover] over the next month or so.

Various multi-teired safeguards will be in place so that this doesn't happen again, and the site will be going down for approximately an hour on Monday and Thursday late-evenings for FULL, uncompressed backups.

We have had several people working on this, pretty much non-stop since 1AM Saturday. And will continue to work on restoring the threads for several hours each day.

Any new members who had their account deleted, please contact an admin.

Any member who had contributed to the forum, we have your contact information, and the thread/list will be restored shortly.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you for your efforts! I work in the IT industry and understand how this type of situation can be freaking maddening. [smilie=eek.gif]

While I visit a number of forums, this is my second home for a period each day. The site down has left me wanting and so glad you are back up. Thanks mucho.

Gentlemen (and ladies, if applicable) thank you! :ber

However, don't sweat this! If the worst thing is folks have to rewrite and repost that's no big deal, and if someone has a hissy fit, oh well... [smilie=eek.gif]

Sometimes life sucks, other times life's a bitch! Simply let the small stuff go and move on! =:bye

THANKS AGAIN [smilie=cheers1.gif]

Thanks to the guys who've been working on this... Having spent the better part of 30 years in the business I know first hand how what is supposed to be a couple hours job can turn into a week long nightmare....

Thanks again for the work you do...

Sorry if the constant attempts at logging back in cause problems. It was like a sore inside your mouth, you know you just need to leave it alone to heal, but you can't messing with it.

Glad to see everything is back. [smilie=cheers1.gif]

If you wanted more donations just ask. Shutting FSN down seems extreme!

Thanks for all the work it takes to keep this place going. I appreciate it being back :) /:f
