Most Famous Person Encounter

Post by florida_pi » Mon Oct 17, 2011 10:44 am

Just for fun. Who's the most famous person you have ever stopped, or assisted for you paramedics. Mine are Barbie Benton and Gloria Estefan (both verbal warnings). Met old actor Keenan Wynn on a assist motorist call.

did you give them both tickets Ger ??? ...lol...the OP must think there are more LEO on here than will own up to it...haha

I once gave a ticket to Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, but it was so his friend could get into the show, actually it was a back stage pass

for an interesting topic how about how many famous people could you call right now [smilie=011.gif]
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

Back in my enforcement days as a hall monitor I once met McGruff the crime dog.

I've been McGruff and Little Squirt many times.

Met lots of "famous" people, having spent most of my career in the entertainment industry. Lots of regular folks, lots of d-bags, and some very cool people too. Probably the classiest person I can think of off the top of my head as Lee Greenwood. He actually came up to all the crew after the show while we were loading the truck and shook hands with all of us and thanked us for helping him with his show.

Bush 41. Very cool guy. Spent about 2 hours talking.

Gene Simmons = very cool and funny

Busta Rhymes = I would not piss him off but cool

Bo duke ( no Idea on actors name) nice

Hasselhoff = I was a kid but a huge fan of night rider. He sat down and talked to my dad and I for a while. Took pics etc. this was in 88'

Others. Never met someone rude. I know the horror stories but just no my experience.

Back in 1966 I played a huge picnic at the Carling Brewery on Lake Cochichuate, just off Worcester Road in Natick, Massachusetts. The actor, dating back fron silent films, Conrad Nagle, bummed cigarettes from me all afternoon.

Met Dizzy Gillespie at a Wellesley College gig in Wellesley, MA. I was playing in a big (16 men) band opposite Diz's band. When Diz introduced the members of his band each of them said to Diz : Umgawa.

Played off and on over 40 years with the great Dave McKenna.....a jazz pianist who was a legend at the age of 23. He served in the US Army in the Korean War. The army, in its' wisdom, made a cook out of him.

And my nickname of Zip was given to me by the late great blues singer James Rushing....Google James Rushing Harvard Lies..........

It's been a helluva ride so far.......

I worked at their corporate HQ not too far from there in the early '70s. Afternoon coffee breaks were interesting. [smilie=cheers1.gif]

Before becoming a Firefighter, owned and Limo co. with my dad in NYC , we were very exclusive and did only VIPS and Hollywood types including, Diana Ross(witch) , Raquel Welch ( a witch with bigger tits) , The Marlboro Indy Car Drivers, the Marlboro country performers, Alabama, the Judds, Van Halen, etc etc etc..

As a FF , I have dealt with Joan Jett and some no name rappers at the hard rock years ago..

Met Charlie Daniel a couple of times. Just a regular guy.
Met lots of NASCAR drivers & crew. Jimmy Spencer & Micheal Waltrip were a hoot and all the guys at Phoenix Racing were amazing!
My favorite was Bobby Allison. Met him dozens of times in my teens & 20s.
He recognized me at Zephyrhills once and invited me & my buddy for ice cream. That was priceless!

I've only met political-types: Charlie "super-tan-man" Crist, the tan looks much more natural in-person; Charles Bronson, the last Commissioner of Agriculture, he's a pretty cool guy, someone I'd like to have a beer or two with; Adam Putnam, the current Ag. Commissioner, he's pretty cool too. I imagine he'll run for president some day, and I think he'd make a good one.

That reminds me - I had Randy "Macho Man" Savage and his girlfriend in one of the CHL classes I taught. He was a very nice gentleman.

Oh yeah...I remember doing a one-nighter (2 shows) with Eddy Arnold and Boots Randolph, back in the late 60's. They had an Aussie playing piano....Eddy was an extremely nice man; Boots kept very much to himself except to thank me after the second show.

Any of you who track the Black Separatist movement might remember a dude named Louis Walcott, also known as Eugene Walcott. He had a calypso band working at Eddie Davis's upstairs lounge on Massachusetts Avenue in Boston. I recorded with him and his calypso group back in 1953, shortly before I joined the USAF in '54. You'd know Louis today by the name of Louis Farrakhan.....his brother, Alvin Walcott was a mentor to me.
