The Dakar Rally -1/3/17 - Upcoming Times

Post by czharry » Thu Dec 29, 2016 1:44 pm

If you like this sort of thing.........

The Dakar Rally begins on Tues Jan 3rd.
It will show these highlights every day from 1/3/17 to 1/14/17. Each day will be a different stage. Some days they will show repeats of a previous stage, but you just never know when, unless you're paying attention.
Last year's was pretty exciting, showing a lot of bikes.

These are a few of the broadcast times, but the times will vary, so you need to check with an on-line TV listing guide.

Don't think I'd like a motorsports event where you had to walk that far back to the pits.

Lucky for them they have support vehicles and helicopters. That's some bad-ass terrain out there. They show a lot of crashes and moto-endos. Couple years back Robbie Gordon charged up a dune. When he got to the top, there was no "up and over", it was a straight drop-off. His Hummer variant landed on the front grill, and there he was with his ride sticking up on the grill.
The others are the giant support trucks. They're in the race too. Too many times I've seen go up or down a steep dune at an angle, then, of course, it turns over or rolls upside down.
Lucky for them someone will stop and pull with straps or chains to get the upright.
Each show is only 30 min. so there's only so much they can show in the highlights.
