How much is that pistol going for theses days? I have a MKIII, and it is a great pistol, but it is not threaded.

Bought it for $369+tax at OleTimeGunSHop. Great prices even during this craze.

Thanks for the vids!

My first can (sparrow) should be out next month so Im starting to get anxious! I managed to forget about it for five months but finally called this week. I have 3 hosts for it right now, with the pistol being a Ruger mk2 22/45. Mine was the earlier version that I had threaded and grip mod done to it. Volquartsen internals are a must and it made it one of the funnest guns to shoot that I own. Trigger pull is awesome.

What have you found to be the most consistent and quietest ammo? I have a few different ones to try to include remington subs, a large lot of surplus remington SV that i got from the cmp, cci subs, and gemtech subs right now.

Here is mine:

"What have you found to be the most consistent and quietest ammo? "

CCI Standard velocity - great stuff, just under the speed of sound.

pistol or a rifle .... its pretty much the same stuff as the Gemtech stuff that is made by CCI for Gemtech. I thinks its only 10fps faster but as DaveP said still sub sonic ... the best part is the price ... well was not sure how much it would cost you now IF you could find it but the last case i bought was $275, I use it for suppressed and unsuppressed shooting its fed great in everything from an advantage arms 22 conversion on a glock, a gsg5, m&p15-22, a savage rifle with no issues.

How loud is a 22/45 subsonic vs a rifle subsonic, both unsuppressed?

I watched videos on youtube it seems louder but not sure if its just the video. We live outside city limits and people shoot around here all the time but I don't want to disturb the neighbors too much. I shoot my savage mark II in the back all the time with subsonics and I'm considering a 22/45

Best ammo is standard or subsonic CCI...period.

A bolt action 22 rifle vs 22/45 both suppressed with subsonic. Rifle wins.
A semi-auto 22 rifle vs 22/45 both suppressed with subsonic. It's a tie.

I can't find any CCI so this will do for now.

Answered just what I wanted, thanks.

I shoot subsonic through my Savage FVT in the backyard all the time, but that 22/45 sounds a little too loud to shoot unsuppressed on 1 acre of property, neighbors would hate me.

Flashooter, you're going to cause me to spend some more funds. Looking into the Volquartsen internals for my 22/45 now that you've mentioned them. Could turn my "other" suppressed 22 into a much better shooter.

Hello Ironman, I really enjoyed your very interesting video, thanks. I don't know if Eley subs are available over there but if they are I would definitely recomend that you give them a try. I use them in hollow point subsonic and, with hand on heart, can say that when used in my BRNO mod5 bolt, Browning SA, and, up untill 1996 (excuse me while I spit), in a gorgeous Browning Match pistol (Threaded barrel) the round is tops for accuracy and noise killing ability. Several US subsonics have been tried, the best of which I found to be Winchester, which came pretty close to Eley.
This is definitely NOT flagwaving on my part, promise! Oh, another point that I'd like to make, I notice that barels in the US are normally threaded 1/2" x 28tpi whereas over here we use 1/2" x 20. As an ex egineer, in my opinion you got it right. The finer thread makes sense and I for one would prefer it.
Hope this is of interest.

Hey Ironman love he videos so much, I bought a 22/45 Thursday. Can't wait to try her out. It's the 4.5" threaded

I had a video request. Do you own a .45 suppressor?

If so I was wondering if you could do a video of a .45 suppressor on a .45, 9mm, .22, or any caliber as long as the suppressor can handle the pressure.

What I'm looking to see is for someone who buys just one suppressor to fit multiple pistols in different calibers, how effective it is on those other calibers. I think it would make a good video?

Brandon, SilencerCO has such a video out where they shoot 45, 40 and 9mm thru their 45Osprey, 40 and 9mm thru their 40Osprey and obviously 9mm thru their 9Osprey. The beauty of the Osprey is the interchangeable adapters.

That is great, wonderful video.

I would still love to see how a .45 or 9mm suppressor does on a .22lr subsonic and standard

My Glock and 22/45 are threaded the same size and it i would prefer to go 9mm and use it on .22lr as well

Thanks for taking the time to do this. Hope to have my first suppressor soon so Ive been looking at a ton of comparison videos. Definitely like how yours was done.

Did I hear you mention you feel CCI standard velocity (non sub) would be quieter than what you shot?

Its crazy how on the last shoot, the 2nd and 3rd rounds (IIRC) didn't even sound suppressed.

If you already know this, or it was already posted I apologize in advance.

Shooting 22 thru a larger can , can be ok. But you need to make sure its a can that can be disassembled as the rimfire ammo leaves a lot of lead behind.
