A Winchester 52 I was shamed into sending to a cousin. Belonged to my Grandfather and after he passed my family wound up with a few of his guns. I kept 2 and sent the others to my male cousins, that have since acted like we don't exist. Wish I has never given in and sent them the guns.
I can explain it to you, but I cannot understand it for you.

Nostalgia wise, I'd have to go with the levers, accuracy with the bolts, but for all around versatility it would be the 10/22!

This Mossberg 44B(b) was made between 1938 and 1941, and has been in my family since new. It was at our cottage in Ontario; I learned to shoot on it, as did four generations of us. In the 1960's it was relegated to the boathouse year-round, and fell on hard times ... lots of scrapes and gouges in the wood; rust everywhere; front and rear sights broke off and missing. Even the red and green safety indicators vanished.

Before my family gun mentor died a few years ago, he gave what was left to me, asking only that I refinish the wood and get it shooting again. Lots of rubbing the metal with oil and bronze wool saved the original bluing; stripped the wood, sanded and refinished; and I found NOS sights and even the safety indicators. Yes, that is the original wood: Today, it would be exhibition grade walnut.

Now it's ready to teach another four generations of lucky first-time shooters.

Colt .22 Lightning. Fun, quite little shooter for a 120 + yo gun.
What new gun my dear, this old thing?
