The Democrats have reinvented themselves as the Progressive Socialist Party, expelling all heathens who don't agree on gun control, abortion, "diversity" and only minorities and females mattering.
The Republicans are reinventing themselves as Populists, diverging some from Conservatives and constantly having to fight the drift to the Left as the Rockefeller type Liberal Republicans keep popping up like some nearly extinct disease like smallpox or plague. You can't seem to get rid of them because it's so addictive to be able to buy votes with more goodies for the voters.
