S&W J Frame 38 Revolver for $359 new at SS

Post by speed_racer » Tue Jan 17, 2012 11:15 am

Normally, I dont purchase from Shoot Straight.

But I was in there yesterday doing some paper punching and noticed they had a sale going on...

Scored a NIB J Frame 38 in black - hammerless - for $359.

Thought that was a pretty decent deal!!!! Now is the time to buy one from them if you're in the market.

I can't believe how light this thing is... even loaded with 5 Hornady +P's it doesnt feel any heavier than a cell phone in my pocket. :) :)

Also - it's my first revolver, so whoohoo for me [smilie=011.gif] [smilie=011.gif] [smilie=pdt_xtremez_30.gif] [smilie=pdt_xtremez_30.gif] [smilie=pdt_xtremez_30.gif] _:

"Normal" retail on the 642(if that's what it is?) is approx. $399, so that's a good deal.
Shoot it yet? It's a HARD hand-pounder!

FWIW, It's a 442.

I saw them at $375 on buds and figured I wasnt doing too bad :)

It was also my first time with my CWL so there was something special about walking out with her :)

A 642 was my first revolver (442 but stainless). Some have no problem with the recoil... for me the metal on the grip hits my thumb in a spot that I've broken a few times... so it sucks. Especially with Buffalo Bore +p loads. But you're right... it's amazingly light and seriously disappears in a pocket. I use a Desantis Nemisis holster for mine... but there are tons of others out there that will work as well or better.
Tarpon... everything else is just bait.

Have the 638 (bodyguard/shrouded hammer) with hogue grip on it. Fun shooter with no discomfort. Grip made a difference.

That's a great price on a 442. I own a 340pd and bought and installed the clip draw for it and it's AWESOME. No holster carry at 4 o'clock and it's so light i never leave home without it.
