anyone know s';t about colt revolvers?

Post by dieselbeef » Mon May 15, 2017 8:22 pm

just got a 1978 trooper mk111. pretty clean holster wear stuff..

anyways the sideplate screws been buggered up so somebodys been rootin in it. I wanna take the side off to make sure it aint a pos in there and to clean it good cuz the oil and some of the grease on this gun is brown..like its almost become wax brown.

the trigger is really hard..smooth and breaks ok I guess but its hard to pull..too hard I think..

wheres the best place to start or is there a good colt guy somewhere around tampa?

got the target grips and the rubbers and the box and all in a trade.

Colt revolvers are more complicated than S&W or Rugers.
Cole's in Clearwater may be able to look it over for you. They are on the corner of Douglas and Sunset Point.

You might start with the Kuhnhausen book.

I was issued a MkIII in 1974 NIB from the PD. We were all shown how to tear it down and of course ordered not to monkey with it. It does have a heavy double action pull but you will find that's it smooth as glass. I still have that pistol, we were able to purchase them when our department switched to Smith model 66. I have checked around and found that you can get a wolf spring pack to lighten the double action pull for around $9.00. I haven't done it yet it's on my very long to do list. Enjoy, it's a very nice pistol.

I had a colt DA revolver once and they are not easy to disassemble or re-assemble. I swore off colt revolvers based on that experience. Give me a s&w.

The only thing I know about them is that the cylinder rotates the wrong direction. Also, no matter how hard I push on the cylinder release, they don't work. I even used a chisel and hammer to wack the release forward like a smith and wesson and nothing... :ham'r ( A little late night humor...) [smilie=cheers1.gif]
