Unicorn Revolver

Post by scottly » Mon Dec 29, 2014 10:10 pm

The much coveted (by USPSA guys anyway) but rarely seen Smith & Wesson 929. I outfitted this one with Hogue JM grips, a HiViz front sight and LPA rear sight.

Trigger and hammer have been shimmed and frame clearanced, action work completed by yours truly, including cylinder chamfer, spring change, shortening of strain screw, rebound slide mods, extended firing pin, and old style cylinder thumb release with 30lpi cuts.

DA only, trigger pull is at 4lb, 15oz with 100% reliability with Federal primers....and smooth as melted butter.

Had a chance to play with one of its single action brothers in 45lc. Gotta laugh at how Hollywood portrays the old gunfighters....fanning the hammer and hitting the target...yea, right.

Nice toy JNG...looks like Santa was good to you

Picked up a new Ruger recently.
3-3/4" BBL Talo Super Blackhawk .44 mag.
It sort of goes nicely with my 4-5/8" BBL Blackhawk .45 convertible.

just picked this one up in a private sale. S&W model 60, first run from 1969. Imported to Germany, bought by an American who worked there and returned to the US with it, in 1969. It has German proof marks on the barrel. He was the original/first owner and I am now the second. It is in immaculate condition.

This is my 2nd Gen SAA, 38SPL, engraved by Dan Goodwin, master Colt engraver.
Dan Chesiak carved the ivory grips.
Don't know why the second image doesn't open, but you can click on it.
The hammer has a tywrap on it so I won't turn the cylinder, that's the problem with a piece of art like this.
It ain't for shootin, just for lookin at. I love having it, but wish I could put some 38's through it.

These are my Colt 1909 and Smith Registered Magnum.
The holster ware on the ends of the barrels is mostly not there, just in the pic.

Is that barrel cut down? I've never seen an ejector shroud like that before. The grips look good, but I prefer the targets in beautiful wood grain.

yeah, it's a Lew Horton Special with a 2" barrel.
Lew had these guns made at Smith to his specs.
Kinda like a COPO car.
I love good wood, but I don't want target grips on a round butt, ruins the whole idea.

and my model 60 that I inadvertently removed from a previous post, and
my smith wesson 586, from 1985.
