FNG moving to the Melbourne area

Post by Texasbob » Mon Feb 13, 2017 6:25 pm

Names TexasBob I’m from Texas and the name is Bob, moving to the Melbourne area in a few months to retire. Been around firearms most my life due with living in Texas and 23 years with the military. Got a FFL03 C&R few years back because I like old Mil-Surp firearms and it was a good way to get access to good deals and learn about old weapons. I’m not into hunting but like to punch holes in paper, (Target practice). Not into collecting per say if I’m going to just look at a firearm it need to be in a museum behind glass, I shoot everything I own. I need to get back into both fresh and saltwater fishing.

Except maybe for the summer humidity.
That might take some getting used to, depending on where in Texas you live.
Otherwise, welcome.
Plenty of places to shoot in Florida, both public and private.

I've lived on the Texas side the Gulf of Mexico Corpus Christi for a while and spend a lot of time on Padre Island, like the Atlantic side/East coast of Florida less humid and stronger sea breezes, cost of living look better with a slower pace. I‘ve looked at the Port Malabar rifle/pistol club web site it looks good like the best in this part of Florida. I will have to check it out with the wife she a shooter also.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Yessir - and welcome to conservative Florida!

PS I spent 30 odd years in the Melbourne/Beaches/Palm Bay area - if you need any advise.

Thanks for the welcomes, always good hear when you get to a new area.

Dave P,
I will look into that Port Malabar rifle & pistol club sounds like it’s just want I need.

Do have two very important questions as I’m from Texas there two other things I need besides a place to shot and fish, where is the best Bar-B-Q and Mex–Tex food in Brevard Country. I went with the whole county, if its good I do not mind the drive.

I normally don’t bad mouth someones watering hole so please don’t say El Sombrero, I tried it last time I was in Palm Bay In my opinion it a step up from Taco bell.

I can smoke up some ribs or a pretty good brisket and the wife say my Fajita are great but sometime you just want to let someone else do the cooking.

Any Suggestion the wife and I are making our list of places to try, got 20-25 years before I kick the bucket but it a long drive to Texas for dinner. =:e

Bob, I was neverr one to eat out often - so little help from me.

But a few to consider: Chart House for nice steaks, etc. Big Island Burrito, Indialantic. Rooneys, Palm Bay Rd.
