Glad to be here in eternally sunny Florida.

More importantly glad to be able to truly exercise my 2A Rights.

Glad to have you here where there's no restrictions on whatever gun or accessories you want to buy.
Get your concealed weapon license to remove the last restriction of the 5 day waiting period.
You notice it's a concealed "weapon" license. Means anything, not just guns.

Good going, sir!

California--beautiful state, dreadful politics.

Welcome! Which part of the state did you move to?

Give me a moment while I use my soapbox to get up on my high horse...

I always get my panties in a bit of knot when I hear someone refer to their "2nd amendment rights"

You don't have any 2nd amendment rights. Neither the constitution nor the bill of rights give you any rights. The constitution grants certain limited enumerated powers to the federal government, and the bill of rights simply lists out a few rights that the federal government is prohibited from interfering with.

You have the right to defend yourself in the manner you see fit. This right is inherent in our humanity. We had this right before the constitution was written. If the second amendment were repealed tomorrow, even if the constitution were destroyed and the United States disbanded, we would still have this right.

Quite possibly, you're aware of all this. But referring to "2nd amendment rights" implies that we are granted the right to keep and bear arms by the government. Many gun-control advocates subscribe to this belief. And if government gave it to us, they can take it away. Using the phrase "2nd amendment rights" subtly reinforces this belief.

OK, I'm off my high horse, and my panties are all straightened out. Again, welcome to Florida, where your right to defend yourself is infringed upon less than in the in California [smilie=cheers1.gif]

Except knives, or some knives, in Miami-Dade County and Unincorporated Dade. There is no preemptive status for knives there, afaik and if my info is still current. It would be best to research this carefully.

Yeah, yeah, so I painted with a wide brush. There's a couple of knives that are prohibited. But for the majority you're GTG. It's all in the FS 790 and thereabouts.

I spent a couple of years in San Barnardino. Never so happy to leave a place in my life.

Welcome to Florida, the GunShine State. /:f

If you have a CCW there's no restrictions on knives being carried, even auto knives, so long as you have a permit. Any locality enforcing otherwise is in violation of Florida's preemption clause

Eta: except ballistic knives which are flat illegal

That defense has not been tested in actual court cases, afaik. Concealed weapon carry for guns in the state law pre-empts any local ordinance when it comes to guns, not so for knives. The local ordinances regarding knives in Miami-Dade are not pre-empted. It could be challenged, if you want to be the test case.

Welcome momoshooter,
Too bad what California has become.
I lived there back when it was still part of America.
Wasn't happy to have to leave until later when the Commies took it over.
Welcome to the mostly Freedom State.
Sorry about the bugs and humidity, though.
