Minwax Stainable Wood filler

Post by Cardboard_killer » Wed Jan 25, 2017 8:26 pm

This stuff is wretched. It does not take stain at all like wood, so any use of it is highlighted by any coating but paint. I had to sand every ding fill I did on a stock to get rid of the crap. Avoid using it on anything but paint jobs. What a waste of time.

Truth...my wife went for a rustic look on an end table and used it to fill a decorative line...it sanded out pretty smooth but shrunk over time and now looks like crap...the black stain made it look even worse and black shows everything .

In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

I use Durhams water putty and mix the stain in, works pretty good.
