Electric... gives temp control without having to babysit the smoker all day...

I use a Weber Smokey Mountain. Have used many different models and fuel sources, and the WSM is easily the best value/easiest to use. Mine will maintain 225° for 12 hours on one load of charcoal. It actually holds temp better than my gas smoker did.

I suppose electric is probably easier, but I was never too fond of the flavor.

I have a electric smoker with an amnps lets me start briskest at night and not have to worry about anything. I still get a smoke ring and all the flavor but I don't have to wake up three time to tend the fire
