Has anyone gone to this? I have a friend who went and told me it was completely packed and they were charging for parking (abomination!).

I have some 223 ammo I'm trying to sell that I might take there if it's worthwhile. Might try to sell some guns too if it's really like that.

No demonstrations. There are new, as well as pre owned guns there. Whatever the FFL's decide to bring. The nice thing, no "can we clean your glasses", corn bread, or other non gun related items. We were busy. GARY

Too soon for a panic. If the GOP loses Congress in November, then run up to 2020 will see The Fear back and bigger than ever.

It was a great show, & the vendors that I spoke to went home very happy. The same could not be said about the previous week's WPB show, where the vendors said sales sucked. GARY.

My 1st show there this year. I was pissed to find out about the parking charge.

Saw a news piece earlier in the day about possible demonstrations, one of the vendors said he thought there were protesters earlier in the day, but apparently, any protests were minor.

Ended up buying a used Warthog, but wasn't really looking too much at the price of guns. I was just mostly looking.

Not the worst crowd I ever saw.

Nothing to do with the show. The fairgrounds decided to add a parking fee of $5. GARY.

Morning Edition on NPR was LIVID about gun shows so close to the evil black rifle killing kids.

Do they think the promoters planned this the next day? Reservations are made a year in advance for the venue. It was just bad timing. GARY

No, FIU does not own it, and that's a sensitive issue right now. FIU would normally get it after the fair's 99 year lease expires but they want it sooner, and the vote a couple of years ago only said the fair would move after an acceptable replacement venue was found, but both sides dispute who gets to decide what's "acceptable." It's turned an amicable relationship into an antagonistic one and the fair now appears to be doing everything it can to assert its place there. I'm not sure if the parking charge is part of this whole issue of the fair trying to reassert itself, but it wouldn't surprise me. Of course, that's just my opinion.

As for the show itself, It was OK. I wasn't originally planning to go, but after hearing from my neighbor, I went on Sunday and was able to sell a couple of guns for a fair price. Strangely, I wasn't able to sell the ammo even though I was selling it cheaper than anyone else there. I guess I should have gone on Saturday.

It's funny with the Miami show, but even though Sunday is an hour less than Saturday, [10-5, vs 9-5] it's the better day. Always more sales on Sunday there. As for the parking situation, the county has a new person in charge of the property who feels a $5 parking charge is appropriate. It seems everywhere you go in Dade County, people charge for parking, & she wants to cash in. GARY.

Yeah, but it completely trashes the one thing that I always said I liked about this show. Oh well, I've pretty much stopped going anyway.
