Am I nuts or what? Map of Central FL Gun Shops

Post by LurkMastR » Fri Aug 10, 2007 6:01 pm

I think I must be nuts to try this, but here goes anyway...

I've started putting together a Google map of the central Florida gun shops. I know you can get similar results by doing a Google search on guns or rifles or firearms near your zip code, but that doesn't always show everything. I've made a first stab at it based on the shops listed in the Central FL Gun Shops sticky thread. I know there's still a lot that need to be added, but what do you think? Is this a waste of time or a useful resource? Click here

I'm sure there's probably some cut & paste errors or maybe even some of the map push-pins are out-of-place. Let me know if you see any glaring errors.

Try using this webpage. Enter the city and search term "gun". I travel around the state and it is a good way to locate shops.

Visted this once about 2 years ago. It was a pretty upscale shop. They had a Colt Potato Digger for sale. I did not see it on the map.

Gun Shops

Anyone ever been in Foster's Guns on Colonial Dr.? I drive by it every time on my way to East Orange, but it looks fairly small and I have never bothered stopping.

M&C Army Surplus in Gainesville if you want to list that far to the north.

Ok, I need some clarification on a couple of these:

Sweep - I need more info on Castle Keep. The only thing I can find on-line has been a mini-storage place.

kylec - I need more info on the 2 in Tavares. Shop name? Address?

Thanks for your help.

you also have the gun shop (and gun range ) on Hwy 44 just east of Leesburg, and AW Peterson's in Mt Dora........they are both nice shops if you want to add them to your map
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

I added more push-pins on the map. Please let me know if you find any errors. The Google maps don't always put the marker in the correct location when you give it an address. Also be aware that the gun shop list on the left is not entirely in alphabetical order.

If you find more shops to add, let me know. I know that the search engines will list some shops that nobody on the FSN board has mentioned so far. They could be valid entries or they could out-of-date. I'll try to keep the map updated as long as YOU help me. :smile

Now, how do we implement the "user comments" portion so that we can add our comments on experiences with the various gun shops?

A lot of the information you want has already been compiled for you. Gun dealers in Hillsborough county often have a copy of Rod and Gun magazine in their shop that lists many, but not all, gun dealers in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco county. Also Centeral, North, and South West Florida. The copy is also free and they are always looking for more dealers to add to their list.

You can find them at FLGUNNEWS.COM. or 850 Dunbar Ave. Oldsmar, Fl. 34677. Phone # 813-814-1505.

Making a map would be a good idea. Also the user comments would be a good idea. Some of the shops listed in the magazine are not very well stocked or way over priced and a waste of time and gas to go there. It would also be a good idea to mention what kind of customer they cater to like milsurp collectors, hunters, reloaders, competition pistol shooters, et cetera.

a user comment section really would not be fair as not everyone likes the same stuff, one shop that might have a ton of AR stuff might be laking in C & R stuff and not please everyone get my drift, the map is excellent

I guess the only thing we should complain about would be rediculous prices and poor cust svc that just need to be started in a topic of its own under the central FL section like " my bad experience with gun shop A "

there is already too much bitching about some Cent Fla gun ranges why do we need to start about gun shops :-k
