Gun Show Orlando 5/19 - 20

Post by cal45 » Fri May 18, 2018 6:44 pm

Anyone planning to go? Planning to sell anything?
Heard on the news that they will enforce back ground checks for private gun sales (if buyer doesn't have a FL CWP) - not sure how they will monitor this - may be a ball of confusion.

Not going, probably not ever again in Orlando. I often did go to peruse what's available and look at new models, usually taking something to sell or trade as the biggest part of the fun. Orlando shows have been getting more boring, same old stuff (kept seeing a few items I sold to dealers then they marked it way up). The new restriction on sales leaves not much reason to go to Orlando shows.

Better to buy/sell/trade with great FSN guys here, any day :ber

I agree with Springfield. I was thinking about going, since I haven't been in quite a while. With the new ordinance, it seems like too much of a hassle...

I saw where it said no private sales period--- (CWL or not is my interpretation)

I'll just not waste a few hours of my time and do something constructive around the house.

Channel 9 reported that OPD will be monitoring and if caught you will be asked to leave and banned from future shows. [smilie=011.gif]

This has been the rule down here for a long while--in the case of Miami, 20 years.

You have reached a tipping point, Orlando--welcome on board.

So I take it there are FFL's at the show that do background checks and transfers for a fee? Glad I live in Lake County. At least for now the law is the law.

News stated doesn't apply to FL CWP holders - but guess we'll find out over time.

I went along with a small group. Quiet, slow with signs everywhere "warning" about the rules. Prices were lower, SW 642, 637's for $319-under $350 OTD. Strange conversations, arguments about what could and could not happen. One of the group was doing the CWP class and we had to go to SS in Apopka for the shooting part (along with 100 other folks). No fun driving home afterward during the blitzkrieg. Joe

Private sellers need buyer to have CWP AND background check done
by a dealer at show, Also sign with seller's name and dealers name doing said background check.

Yes, I believe the 3 day waiting period is what doesn't apply to buyers w/a FL CWP, just as it is today for buyers going through their local shop/FFL.

Well I've seen my last Orlando show also. Nothing but a big waste of time.

Last time I attended that one was horrible also. Same old junk, same old high prices.
