Manatee Gun & Archery Club

Post by KimberGoldMatch » Tue May 15, 2018 7:36 pm

Anyone here currently using the Manatee Gun & Archery Club range?

I bought my first rifle and there’re only 100 yard ranges in the Tampa Bay area, I’m getting bored at 100 (currently shooting inside), would like to try something longer and it looks like they have 300 and also 600 yards once qualifed on the 300 yard range.

Your feedback would be much appriciated before I make the more than an hour drive.

Thanks!

Well run range, good range officers, clean facility, not too far of a walk from the parking lot. They offer a yearly membership with reduced range rates, or I believe it's $20 each visit. There is also a 1,000 yard range. This is the range that Shark Coast Tactical and Andro Corp use for their bi annual full auto shoots. There is a three gun group I think meet the second Saturday each month, and there is cowboy shoots there too.

If you go, exit 220 off 75, go east about 25 miles. If you think you've gone too far, go further. Look for Logue Rd on the left, there will be a small yellow sign for the range, turn there, and drive a little more than a mile and the range entrance is on your left.
Google pain in the ass and your picture should be there-sayeth my wife

The main line goes out to 300 yards. After you qualify, you can move over to the 600 yard range. Fees went up this year. $7.00 for members, I think it's $27 for non-members.

The 1000 yard range has been gone for about a year now, maybe longer. As BB says, it's a well run range.

Thanks. I’m paying $18 for an hour of range time now so that’s not bad and I need to get some environmental experience... learn to read the wind.

Anybody ever host any long range clinics, not sniper type clinics but just reading the winds and making adjustments?

I don’t have competition quality equipment but it should do pretty well.

With only internet research I ended up with a Sako TRG 22 in 6.5 Creedmoor, a Vortex Razor HD AMG 6-24 x 50 FFP MOA scope, Phoenix and Harris bi-pods and a Wiebad rear bag.

So far I’ve tried Hornady 140 ELD Match and Federal 130 Gold Medal Berger. Last time at the range (inside no wind) I was able to put 10 shots inside a 1” bullseye at 100 yards (The rifle will probably shoot better than that)

It’s been a couple years since I’ve driven down there to use the long range, was not aware they shut it down. Is there a story? What happened?
That makes me sad.

I know nothing, and I can prove it.

Story has it there were too many rounds leaving the range.
