History of FSN

Post by Matt » Wed Jan 28, 2009 2:33 pm

How did FSN start?

Who started FSN?

When did it start? (WHOIS shows domain was registered on 2/20/01)

How long did it take to become as popular as it is nowadays?

How did Moe come into being? Did he emerge after a fight to the death with other admins? Did he eat the hearts of the lesser ones? :-k [smilie=moed.gif]

SKSSeven started it

2001 sounds about right, I signed up around the same time I signed up for AR15.com (2001)

It used to be mostly the group of us who went shooting at POP's...but it slowly gained membership through the years.
There was a re-structuring a while back, where everyones join date and post count were reset (which explains my join date/post count)

It was the Big Bang Theory.

The day that FSN was created, there was a big explosion, and out of it came ....

Years ago IIRC Chris (a.k.a. Sksseven) told me that he started FSN back in his college days – or maybe it was with one of his college buddies(?)

This is the entire extent of my knowledge of the origins of FSN.

It was Al Gore. He started FSN after he invented the Internet.

You know, I seem to recall being on the older version of this site (EZBoard) back in the late 90s so I wonder if 2001 start date may not be too late.

Wow,

Sal I remember that time period...

I can't believe 9 years have gone by since then...

I remember when Kurt and myself joined in around the beginning back then...

SKSeven's registration date for the EZBoard forum was Dec of 2000.

Pretty sure that was the beginning.

For those of you who went around this is what FSN looked like in the beginning.

I just saw a 2001 registration for myself on the old board links posted here so I reckon you are right. Between old age and graduate school my memory is beginning to get indistinct.

And after all those miserable beginings, I showed up.

You're welcome.
