So, it engraves and color-fills?

Thats pretty badass right there. Probably have some builds here that would love some reproductions of original markings, etc.
Sort of but not really. On staineless and titanium, it will actually engrave through a "annealing" process causing the engraving to come out in color. Ill post a picture of a "practice" piece we did in color later. The flag lower you seen is just a regular anodized lower that we engraved with standard (but textured) engraving. Its hard to see as pictured but the stripes and the star portion have two different "textures" we selected.

If I wanted to make another clone rifle, would you be able to do rollmarks, or is that a no no?
I've seen other companies offer that with no issue so I don't see why not.
Sweet. I've just seen other forums where people throw a huge shitfit if someone wants to get a Colt Defense rollmark on their M16/M4 clone so I didn't know if it was a taboo thing.
From what I understand long as the original markings arent removed its fine.

When I get around to it, it's probably going to be on an 80% anyway.

No problem. This is actually a Fiber laser engraved too. So this will cut into (and through if not careful) the metal, whereas the weaker co2 systems just kind of burn the paint off whatever your engraving.

The problem comes when you go to sell it and try to pass it off as something that it's not and it's a trademark violation.... if you love Pepsi Cola you can get a Pepsi tattoo on your arm or you can have Pepsi engraved on the side of your gun.... as long as you don't try to sell it as a Pepsi-Cola AR-15 you should be in the clear
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

I don't want to sell any of my rifles so I feel as if that scenario wouldn't apply. Especially if I was making one out of an 80%. Besides, can't you tell a legit rollmark from a laser engraving anyway?

So much technology has advanced in laser engraving stuff these days you can play with the wattage and adjust the depths throughout the project....

Lots of people have used a laser to try to replicate roll marks that were started heavy and ended up light

I will have to find it for you and I don't know how you upload templates on your machine, but there was a company out west that had all the gun companies logos even the old Colt stuff with the Colt horse on the globe, detail all the way down to the arrows in the horses mouth [smilie=pdt_xtremez_30.gif]
