Border Collies are wonderful dogs, pure bred or not.
My mother had one for fourteen years.
Very smart and hers was the only dog I knew who liked to eat vegetables.
And even liked to have a bath.
Enjoy.

Thanks for rescuing.
:ber
yea, it is the best way to do it. we did look at some other dogs on craig's list and from breeders because wife wanted something small at first (like a yorkie terrier or a pug, maybe beagle) but frankly the prices were ridiculous ($1500 for a yorkie, $1000 for golder retriever, etc) and we felt saving a dog from a kill shelter is the right thing to do instead of being a snob about it and getting one for top $$$ from a breeder. so for few weeks we looked at rescue agencies and once Lana showed up i was on it like flies on [smilie=042.gif] [smilie=011.gif] surprisingly we were the only people that showed interest in her. we did the adoption application, whole family visit at the foster's house, finally a house inspection, and we got her. total cost was $350 (though i gave them little more to help out with other expenses) that includes her next vet visit, shots, deworming, and spaying procedure. another few hundred $$$ for all her beds, cages, blanky, towels, pads, food, etc etc. total time from finding her to bringing her home about 2 weeks, but it could have been faster have I not been working so much lately.

You got the perfect size dog

Mini dogs are too small for kids like your's.

And you're going to think that mutt has springs in her legs.

What do you mean about springs? She’ll be jumpy and hyper?

My dog eats carrots and green beans and loves it. He also like fruits like oranges and apricots but hates bananas. I cannot say that he likes baths but he lets me do it without complaints. I love this dog, he goes everywhere with me, but stays in the car, unless it is hot out there. As for restaurants and stores, it is forbidden here and I would not take it there anyway. He's better home.

No more hyper than any other puppy. But a dog like that can jump. Your kids will love it

I gave Lana some of those baby carrots that my kids normally get and she loved it! Two carrots broken up in to smaller peaces disappeared in a minute :) we will try other veggies and fruits soon.

Congratulations!!! I hope she brings you and your family many years of happiness. My wife and I rescued a schnauzer about 1.5 years ago and he is the best fur-kid ever.
I can explain it to you, but I cannot understand it for you.

I got mine when he was 4 at a shelter as well. In the family, we all go to shelters for dogs or cats.
