I worry that with this tremendous build up of Naval vessels from the United States, Britain and Germany a simple accident like two "enemy" planes bumping could set off this powder keg.

Who is the USA's enemy in Syria? Assad? Radical rebels? Nice rebels? Kurds? Turks? Iranians? Russians?
DUH thats a list ain't it? =:bye
Personally, I do not give a [smilie=042.gif] who is killing who and how over there in the mid/east.
US troops' blood should never be spilled for/over any of the roaches on the list in the 1st line.
All US troops should be brought back home, all overseas bases closed and burnt to the ground, all foreign aid except Israels should be stopped.
These are my opinions no one has to agree with me.

I'll shorten that list to NOTHING and put in one you forgot about: ISIS. There's still about 10,000 of them in Eastern Syria/Western Iraq and we've been using the Kurds mostly, as proxy troops to fight them.

Our actions in Syria against any of the others on the list have been limited to protecting our fight against ISIS. And aside from that we've stayed out of the Syrian Civil War because there's no good outcome for us in that.

To this Trump has added action against something Obama only lied about and gave lip service to: Eliminating chemical weapons. That's because they are of no military use except as a nuisance, but are a vicious terror weapon against civilians.

So if you'd prefer to live under Sharia law, or suck Chlorine or Sarin, keep on complaining that we have no business in Syria.

Ridiculous assertions are being made by some Americans who just don’t realize when their government is lying through their teeth.
We have no lawful mandate to barge into other countries and shoot up the place. We are in the wrong here, Russia is dead right on this issue and they will rightfully counter any attack on their military members in Syria. They were invited into Syria and we were not, we are trespassing in yet another country without permission to be there. Nikki Haley is an embarrassment to our country. We deserve to get our asses kicked.
I don’t trust our government or its presstitute mainstream media mouthpiece.
Neither does Paul Craig Roberts:https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2018/0 ... end-world/

Well now I know to never take anything you say serious again
If you are on the side of our government, you are not on the right side of history. Our U.S. government has conducted illegal military agression against a sovereign nation in violation of the UN charter and international law. Our country is being run by criminals, and we approve...let that sink in a minute.
I see the exact same nationalist fervor in many Americans that led Germany down its infamous path to history.
There is a difference between patriotism and nationalism. We best distinguish between the two before we go picking which team we want to be on.
Government is a national disease that too many Americans have succumbed to.

WTF are you talking about? If we don't bomb Syria in a limited, useless way, then we will have Sharia law? That's absolutely moronic. This bombing is all about Russia, the only existential threat in the room. It has nothing to do with ISIS, except in so far that Russia is in Syria to ensure neither ISIS nor the US backed rebels overthrow the Russian satellite state.

Honestly, I have never heard of her before this Trump fiasco. I am going to do an in-depth scientific examination on Pornhub and Xvideos and post my findings later.

Gotta get on that zionism train. Isn't like 10% of Congress dual citizenship with Israel?

If we don't vote for every RINO we'll lose our guns.
Now if we don't bomb Syria ISIS will take over the USA.

Did you bother to read what I wrote or are you too limited to understand it.

The goal of ISIS was a worldwide Caliphate imposing Islam and Sharia law on EVERYONE. Up to recently they controlled most of Iraq and Syria plus parts of N. Africa, Yemen, Somalia... Our goal in Syria is to eliminate the ISIS remnants.
The bombing is all about Syrian chemical weapons, if you bother to read any news briefings instead of going by your preconceived notions or drinking the Alex Jones Kool-Aid.

Our lying news media get their orders from our lying government. Only a fool would trust either.
The bombing in Syria isn’t about chemical weapons. It’s about the U.S. government pushing its weight around, no different at all than that drunk guy at a bar just looking to pick a fight.
America is defending its exceptionalism. The empire is in decline and we will continue to wage illegal wars to distract the American public from that fact.

Has anyone seen a reliable after-action assessment, number of successful flights vs shot down, etc?

I don't have the links handy but the Pentagon released satellite imagery and it pretty much coincides with what Syria and Russias claims being bullshit.

They say we hit all our targets. We didn't hit any Russian sites, just Syrian ones associated with chemical weapons.

Apparently, Russian defense tech isn't good enough to stop a missile strike, at least when wielded by the Syrians.

One wonders if they even bothered turning on their SAM radars. Probably not a good idea.

Mad Dog Mattis says this is one off, to not be repeated (unless chems get used again).

Syria fired off 40 SAMs - after the cruise missiles hit! Zero shoot downs, all 3 targets - chemical production and storage - completely destroyed.

IMHO Russian war fighting equipment capability is highly overrated against any competent adversary.

Russia is a dumpster fire and anyone thinking they have any sort of chance in a war with us, sans ICBMs launching, is smoking some good s';t that they should share with the rest of us.

War in Syria? Why?

Illegal act of agression by our government.
Under the United Nations system, which is the current governing law of the international order, authorization by the UNSC is the only justification for armed action by a state or group of states against another, other than a country's "inherent right of individual or collective self-defense if an armed attack occurs" under Article 51 of the charter. Stoltenberg knows this too, since NATO, the organization he heads, is ostensibly based on its members' "exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defense recognized by Article 51" under the North Atlantic Treaty's oft-cited Article 5. That's why operations by Russia and Iran at the invitation of the Syrian government are legal, but those of the US, Turkey, and any other countries not given permission by Damascus are illegal.

In short, in the absence of consensus in the UNSC, no country had or has the legal authority to attack Syria. This is even assuming the claims of chemical-weapons use were true. The Chemical Weapons Convention, to which Syria acceded in 2013, is not self-activating. Nothing gives any other country the legal right to unleash a military action against another country under its own claim that the convention has been violated.

Military action against another state that is neither in self-defense nor authorized by the Security Council has a name. It is called aggression.

The U.S. is not a nation of laws. D.C. is full to the brim with criminals, and those criminals represent the American people as a whole. Anyone who is proud of our government for breaking international law and attacking weaker nations without sound justification or Congressional approval is either grossly misinformed or sociopathic in mentality.
