I'd say yes, it would be a deterrent.
The kind of crazy who would do such a thing is cowardly, judging how they react to being shot at themselves.

We homeschooled three of our 4.
Which I (if I were raising kids these days) would want to do, not just for the security concerns but for the "education" concerns, primarily. Anything to get away from that Image Common Core crap! I want kids who know how to think for themselves, not just believe what shoved in front of them... It's the only way we're going to overcome this progressive juggernaut... well one of the ways... We have to do a whole lot more...
