As much as I like to piss on Millennials, the real fault lies with the people who raised them--Boomers and Gen Xers

Not all that many Boomers having kids at around 50 years old or so.
I suppose you could say Boomers raised their grandkids.

Boomers are the most in debt generation in US history. They are requiring gen-xers and mellenials work longer than they did in order to receive SS and Medicare, just to support their own sucking at the government teat. Medicare is the reason this country is going to implode, not anything but the transfer of funds from genx/mellenial workforce to the baby boomers to the medical industry..

Frankly, there's nothing special about the baby boom generation except an exaggerated sense of self worth.
My generation, Gen X, is in far worse financial shape than our parents were at the same age. Millennials are even worse off than we are. Soon after the Great Recession ended, the Pew Research Center reported that middle-class families were 5 percent less wealthy than their parents had been at their age, even though today’s families work a lot harder — the average family’s total working hours has risen by a quarter over the past 30 years — outside the home, and even though they’re much likelier to include two wage earners. The ensuing recovery has made things worse. Middle-class families owned fewer stocks, businesses and homes in 2013 than they did in 2010, according to calculations by New York University economist Edward Wolff.

I really don't remember what Marxism was... I vaguely recall thinking it was one of the bad ideas, but AFAIK I managed to never go to wherever it existed.

I remember a couple years ago, someone on the forum, Perhaps George W but I’m not sure, saying the right to vote should be restricted to either people who own land or people who pay taxes. Can’t really remember.

I was opposed to the idea at the time, but I come to favor it more and more.
I've said that once or twice in my time and I still believe it.

Every time one of those idiots starts spouting off about how wonderful socialism would be, I ask them this.
OK, Burger flippers train for two days and make $20,000 per year.

Brain surgeons train for 12 years and make $20,000 a day.

If you start paying them BOTH $20,000 a year, why would anyone in their right mind study for 12 years to make $20,000 a year when they could just go flip burgers?
I haven't received an answer that made sense yet! [smilie=011.gif]
Actually a surgeon needs four years of pre-med, four years in medical school, five years of residence for general surgery plus two years for the specialty of brain surgery. Total is 15 years and those are 15 lean years! Of course, qualifying is only the first hurdle and by the time a doctor is done with post graduate education, he usually owes more than a nice house costs.
Which house he could pay for, counting taxes, etc, in about 2 years. ANYONE who wants a good life had best be prepared to spend some time making themselves valuable enough to be able to earn it.

I'm not so traditional. 36 is the earliest, not the average age, and it's a bit old to have a new child.
54 is not old enough for social security, and most Boomers are on it.
Math is easy, applying it to the real world takes a bit more.

This is off-topic but interesting:

Why are you referring to two years to pay off a house? A brain surgeon has 5 + 2 years aof residence, where he makes loan payments at a $50,000salary.

My son is a fourth year medical student and will enter residence next year. We paid for his and his brothers first four years in pre-med and he still owes $250,000. He is worried by the debt burden that he carries and in the next few years of residence annual pay will be around $50,000 p.a.

The good life starts after that but it is a very long and hard road in an increasingly competitive environment - and if socialised medicine will be pushed through by the Democrats, he could be stuck with his loans.

some small town hospital will offer him a deal to stay for 2 years for residence and offer to pay half of his loan debt, usually in addition to free housing during that time....Its not as bad as someone sitting in school doing 2 masters then considering going for a doctorate [smilie=011.gif]
