Knee Replacement

Wife had both done at the same time back in 2011. She is glad she did. Doc told her as bad as they both were, doing one then the other would be bad as she would favor one side. She spent 2weeks in a rehab facility, was a good thing, they had her do PT 2-3 times a day. After that it was 3 times a week for a while.

MIL had them both done at the same time a few years ago. Just make sure you do everything the Physical Therapist tells you to do and you'll be good or better than new! Good luck and hope you have a speedy recovery!

My friend's son had a knee replacement at 21, a couple years he was accepted by the Chicago Police Dept, I guess they work OK

Yeah what basically wears out from my understanding on implants are or rather is the glue they use to cement the them to the bone. It eventually comes undone. That's what I was told was the number one reason for knee replacement failure. But we're looking at years and years.

Well did my preop today. Had a great time. The girl was funny. I love doing these. My favorite
Questions are when she's asking me.

Do you drink, if so how much and how often. Answer as much as possible and as every day.
do you smoke. Not cigarettes but pot everyday. She's asks how much, at least 4 or 5 aday
But I'm thinking of cutting down because I'm spending a fortune on jelly filled donuts.

She then starts laughing and I say you know I'm kidding right. She said yeah I kinda figured that out. I then point out I'm kidding about the drinking to just to be sure.

I may have 1 drink a week while grilling out.

Surgery went great, actually better than great. I was some how able to walk on it very easily. Alot easier than the first time for some reason.


All through the day I was give pain meds by pill and shots and pain was managed really great.

That is until the dreaded night shift came on. I had to call for pain meds. Where as during the more busier day the nurses were there when the pains meds needed to be given.

Now this night nurse apparently is on some kind of power trip and or does not believe in pain management.

Because when I told her I need a pain med in shot form.
She started jacking me around. Saying the doctor stated in his work order shots only if pills did not work.

I asked her then who determines if the pills are working. She did not say anything. But I'd already taken the 10mg percoset. So she said she'd check back in an hour.

Problem was is that I was suppose to have gotten an injection not pills.

Oh YEAH IT ME THAT DETERMINES IF PILLS ARE WORKING, NOT HER. SHE SHOULD HAVE ASKED ME BEFORE GIVING ME PILLS AND CHANGING UP MY ROUTINE.

NOW LEG IS STARTING TO HURT MORE ALSO BECAUSE NERVE BLOCK IS WEARING OFF AND I'M GOING TO HAVE TO FIGHT ALL NIGHT WITH THIS BITCH TO JUST BE PROPERLY TREATED FOR PAIN.

I CANNOT WAIT TILL TOMORROW TO RAISE HELL.

I asked her if that was so then why since 9am this morningevery single nurse has been doing both wothout asking or saying a word.

At one point a got so pissed. I said I've got better pain management medication and equipment at home than what she's trying to peddle off on me right after a major surgery. I told her that just because of her treatment I'd probably leave hospital tomorrow because I'm not putting with this crap.

This bitch then says are you a pain management specialist. I said no but I was an ALS paramedic and also had 3 years of pharmacology.

It which point she wanted to know what medications I had at home because she at that point insinuated that I was probably addicted to them which might effect these meds.

My blood pressure went through the roof at thst point. She just assumed again without asking if this was something that myself and the doctors worked as a post op treat plan

I told her it was non of her business what I had at home to treat my pain for this operation.

I did not tell her this. But what I have at home was worked out between myself and surgeon and my primary care doctor. She accually addressed me like I was a drug addict.

It was non of her business what I had. She already had everything I took on her computer.

Just fuck a patient that just had major surgery. Let them suffer. Because she thinks they might be drug addicts.

I was pissed. She had zero athority to micro manage my pain therapy. She must have over heard me talking to my wife about suing for fail to properly care for a patient.

Basically taking it upon herself to change my treatment that I had been being given all day.

This idiot did not have enough sense to realize that I had been doing sooo great with my pain level because of the great work of all the day nurses. By properly give both pills and injections

Instead she wanted to screw things up for whatever reason. Further more it was up to me NOT HER AS TO WEATHER I WANT PILLS OR INJECTIONS, SHE WAS SUPPOSE TO ASK ME FIRST.

Which she only did after she apparently over heard me talking to my wife what I was going to do. If she had refused me pain medication.

I was going to call Coastal and have operator call the emergency 911 doctor on shift and I wanted to speak with the head person in charge of the hospital at night. Not the head nurse but head of the hospital.

I've unfortunately had many operations in my life time. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I'VE EVER BEEN TREATED THIS WAY OR DENIED PROPER PAIN MANAGEMENT.

UNTIL SHE OVER HEARD ME ON THE PH.
GOOD LORD I'D JUST HAD A KNEE BASICALLY SAWED OUT AND A METAL ONE GLUED IN AND THIS BITCH IS ARGUING TRYING TO DENY ME PROPER PAIN MANAGEMENT

PLUS I'D VIDEO RECORDED OUR CONVERSATIONS. I PLAN ON RECORDING HER EVERYTIME SHE COMES INTO MY ROOM. I THINK SHE'S AWARE OF THIS. I'M ALMOST LEVID.

I REFUSE TO TAKE CRAP OFF OF ANY DOCTOR OR ESPECIALLY A POWER TRIPPED IDIOT NURSE.

IM JUST BLOWN AWAY THAT SHE WANTS/WANTED TO CHANGE MY PAIN TREATMENT REGIME BECAUSE OF HER PERSONAL BELIEFS AGAINST DRUGS.
