New Postal Match?? Here's one:

Post by g.willikers » Fri Jul 08, 2011 10:30 am

How about a new postal match?
Here's one that's suitable for any gun, from an airgun at home to a center fire rifle at 100 yds.

Save The Hostage.
It simulates a hostage situation.

The target is just two circles, of the same diameter, placed so they are touching, side to side - one is a No Shoot, the hostage.
To help with identification, they can be different colors, or the no shoot can have an X through it, or anything else that works.
The only variable will be their size, depending on gun choice and distance.
All shots will be free standing, no supports of any kind.
For handgun:
At ten yards the circles are 1.5" diameter.
At 25 yards, they are 4" diameter.
At 50 yds, they are 8" diameter.
For rifles:
At 25 yards, they are 2" diameter.
At 50 yards, they are 4" diameter.
At 100 yards, they are 8" diameter.
If these distances aren't doable, use whatever you like, just adjust the target sizes accordingly.

Caliber doesn't matter, nor does sights.
Just use whatever will do the job, just like real life.
Five shots on each target.
Hits count 1, hits on the NO Shoot are minus 2.
Do them all for a complete match or just the ones you want.
More bragging rights for the longer ones.

Anyone interested?

Would either of these targets work?

Shoot the green (not the red) or vice versa?

Shoot the bullseye (not the square) or vice versa?

I was describing the circles as being next to one another side to side, but what the heck.
Up and down works, too.
But for effect, they should be the same sizes.

Anyone try this, yet?
Between the humidity and rain, the opportunity to go to range hasn't presented itself, lately.
So, I tried it with my trusty pellet gun in the garage.
The first one was three in the baddie, one miss and one in the hostage.
I might need a lawyer.
The second try was four in the baddie and one miss.
The hostage survived.
The third try was all five in the baddie.
If the weather ever cooperates, this should be fun with "real" guns at longer distances.
