June Postal Match: Shoot Your Carry!

Post by JBUG99999 » Sun Jun 06, 2010 12:59 pm

Chris was too slow on the draw this month =:bye , so we’re setting up a Postal Match for June.

This Postal Match is simple: Shoot Your Carry. Whatever you have for your daily carry—shoot it! Your target of choice is fine, but preferably a silhouette-style. Take a picture of your target shot at 3, 7, and 15 yards, and post it up. If you carry a laser, you can use it if you want to. Shoot a minimum of 5 rounds, but preferably a full mag. Rapid fire (or as fast as your range allows) is preferable, but not required.

No targets at your range? Print this one out on a sheet of paper and get going to the range!

No prizes; just get out there, get shooting, and have fun. [smilie=pdt_xtremez_30.gif]

Post your targets and include caliber, distance, sights, number of rounds, etc. before the calendar says July 1.

OK, Mrs. Onree, I'm in. I will do it with my Glock 26 and also with my H&K USPc 45, since I carry each depending on my dress. Vossman is gonna participate too, so that means at least 4 of us right? That is unless Onree doesn't want to shoot against the Missus. [smilie=011.gif]

One question, do we use a separate target at each distance or take a picture after each stage? I have some IDPA silhouettes I can use.

If you wanna take a picture and re-use the same target, that's cool. Either way, it's up to you. Just get shootin'! /:f

We managed to get to the range on Friday and here are the results.

We tried the rapid fire while pointing and shooting rather than a controlled aim.

Vossman,

24 rounds!?!?! That's great! I couldn't imagine carrying 3 mags around with me all day. My P220 gets heavy enough with one mag. What distance did you shoot at?

Thanks for shooting with us! [smilie=cheers1.gif]

That was at all three stages. I just used one target keep moving it back. And no I don't carry three mag's. I thought the instructions said 5 rounds or a mag full?

No worries, I just misunderstood. The whole point was to get out and shoot your carry. It doesn't matter how many rounds or how far, just shoot!

Thanks for participating!

I decided to start carrying my Glock 36 (45acp) this weekend and put some Mepros on it, so here are the results I got this morning:
18 rounds (3) mags shot @ both 5 then 7 yards.
Image
Then the final string of 12 rounds @ 15 yards, the first 2 shots were high and I was aiming dead on center, so then I shot at 6 o'clock in the 9 ring and grouped the rest, good to know this gun and sight combination will shoot 1"-2" high at 15 yrds.
