First Pistol Postal Match of 2009 - Winners Announced

Post by Onree » Fri Jan 02, 2009 3:17 pm

Welcome to 2009. Its time for a new postal match.

I'm going to make this one a bit different. This match will consist of two targets in total.

Here are the rules:

• Pistols Only.
• No scopes, no rests.
• One handed or two handed shooting allowed.
• Calibers: Any, however you must specify on your target what caliber was used.
• Dates: 1-2-09 through 1-18-09 with uploaded targets be posted no later than 11:59pm on the 18th.
• Scoring as broken down per target. Both targets must be scanned and posted.
• Shooting distance: 7 Yards.

Winners will be broken down by calibers - so the number of winners is dependent of the number of different calibers used. If you're the only shooter using a 40, you will be declared the proud (default) winner. [smilie=011.gif]

The targets are included in the attached zip file.
Reminder: When printing the PDF's - set your "PAGE SCALING" to NONE.

Here's the scoring system:
Category 1: Black Center
Fire five (5) rounds at the target. The center is worth ten (10) points per round. All other rings are worth the corresponding values.
Any rounds outside the final ring are worth zero (0)
Maximum total for this target is 50 points.

Category 1: Red Center
Fire five (5) rounds at the target.
The center (red area and only the red area) is worth ten (10) points per round.
The first WHITE ring is worth five (5) points per round. (This includes the four white boxes that contain red - if you hit the white, its worth five (5) points)
The GREY ring is worth two (2) points per round.
The second WHITE ring (furthest from the center) is worth one (1) point per round.
Any rounds outside the final ring are worth zero (0)
Maximum total for this target is 50 points.

The 50% rule is in effect. If your round lands within 50% of a higher scoring area, you get awarded the higher points.

Good luck to all and happy shooting!

Winners:
22LR - SKSman and Onree both with scores of 100 (perfect score)
9mm - Onree with a score of 99
40 - LurkMastR with a score of 74
45 - Mrs Onree with a score of 100 (perfect score)

Due to the lack of participation in this postal match, I'm going to extend it till Feb 1 11:59pm and see if that helps.

I'm going to the shooting center either Thursday or Friday. I'll see how I do with my XD40 sub on these targets and post 'em back.

Circuit City is going out of business, you might find a good deal on a new one there.

I am upset with my results on 9mm but happy with the .22LR ones. I could certianlly do better with the 9mm but I only printed two sets of targets.

This was shot at 7 yards at East Orange. Shot with a CZ-75 SP-01 with a bunch of custom work. The .22LR was shot with the same CZ with a CZ kadet .22LR kit.

Wow!! Good shooting. I am working to shoot that good. Looks like I need more range time.

Good shootin!

I'll post up my 9mm targets later today.

I had a brain fart and totally forgot to shoot 22LR. I'll have to do so next weekend and post those up as well.

So far we have entries in the 9mm and 22LR class.

There's still seven days to go. Ya'll still have time, but not much.

Here are my entries.

I couldn't decide which black center target was better for the .45, so I am submitting both...

Here's my best attempt at shooting the 9 mm brick. I'll have to try again this weekend and see if I can do any better...

I'm not even going to TRY the .22, I can't even come close to winning that one!

I'll try with Mrs Onree's 45, however the sights are always off when I shoot it. I think we need to get that gun looked at! [smilie=011.gif]

Ain't she awesome!? [smilie=pdt_xtremez_30.gif]

I'm looking forward to trying to match a perfect score in the .22LR class.

Jeez, you guys are really good. I'm gonna have to up my game to hang with you sharp shooters. I took my Springfield XD40 subcompact and my standard Ruger Mk. III out today and put a few rounds through them. The .40 felt good on my warmup shots but when I went to shoot 5 through the game target it seemed a bit erratic. I think I was shooting 165 gr at first and then when I switched to some UMC 180 gr it just didn't feel right and the results appear to agree. Maybe I should stick with the rimfire .22 eh?

The best part of becoming a better shooter is the practice involved. [smilie=pdt_xtremez_30.gif]

Keep shooting and have fun!

HAL - Guess you missed that post. Now, go shoot some targets. _:

The seven day thing - yea, well... I guess I just can't count or don't have the mental capacity to properly read a calendar. :ham'r

I bought some fresh ammo this week. Can I enter more than once if I go back to the range on Friday or Saturday?
