What happend to the FSN postal matches???

Post by miamitj » Tue May 06, 2008 9:21 pm

How about we do an informal Rimfire shoot? We each shoot in a 2 week span in late May and post up the pics of your targets.

So what do you guys say? I would say the rules can be spit into categories, .22's and .17's with a sub category for those shooting with irons and those using optics. I would recommend a ban on using full rests with shooters only allowed to use a front rest. I would supply a .PDF target for the shoot.

they have them on other forums and seem to be quite interesting, its been about 3 years since I did one on gunboards, they even mix it up with different C & R guns as well as an all SKS or all AK match
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

I like that -- we can do a C&R one also and then pit the different "Local Forums" against each other. Lets say the local forum that wins get its forum placed above the others :) Maybe some extra "privileges"

you can't be serious #-o , its a postal match, you shoot it yourself and mail in your target

in the old days they mailed them in, later matches I have seen people just scanned their target and posted on line

My idea is to just scan / take a pic and post. Shoot on your own in a 2 week span.

I'm not familiar with the "ol' days". Is this pistol, rifle? What distance. Would be nice for someone to post some "guidelines".

Ok here are the guidelines I think might work ...

1. Two categories -- one for .22LR, .22Short and .22Mag and another for the 17hmr's.
2. Two sub-categories, one for users using iron sights and another for users using optics with magnification.
2. targets provided online for download. You print them and scan / photograph them and post the results to the forum
3. Everyone has a 2 week time frame to get to the range and shoot.
4. Distance will be 50 yards and no full rests are allowed. Shooters are limited to only a front rest/bag/bipod/etc.
5. Winners will be decided on based on the results posted.

Sounds good ??? Any other ideas ???

I was thinking about doing a sheet with like 10 targets on it and we would use the best group of all 10 . I personally like 5 shot groups.

I have coordinated matched in the past on FSN but the interest faded. It would be good to get this started up again.

BTW, I moved this topic to the "Postal Match" forum... =D>

I'm guessing since it's 50 yards it rifle only. :(

I think a postal match would be fun. However, my .22 is a pistol with optical red dot sight but no magnification. Well, I do have an old single shot .22 rifle, my first gun ever, lol. Suppose I could use that, haven't shot it in ages.

I was trying to post it in general to talk about possible doing one. No one visits the Postal Match section so I did not want to place it there where it would go unnoticed.

Sounds GREAT!! The Memorial Day weekend is comming up so around then would be a good time, I would guess most memebers have the day off. It would allow for a day to the range. That's what my bro and I are currently planning.
