This course of fire is meant more for practice than a match, but it can be either.
It is designed for your handgun, but it could be done with carbine, too.
Two loaded mags or speed loaders will be needed per run.
Distance is 7 yards.
Set up three 8" circles on a single backing.
The targets are at different heights, the right and left ones are 5' from the ground, and the one in the middle is four feet high.
If the range allows it, start with the empty gun holstered.
If they don't, or you are using a carbine, start with the empty gun laying on the table.
String 1 -
Load the gun or mags with only three rounds each.
At the Start:
Draw or pickup the empty gun, load, and engage the three targets with one round, each.
Reload the now empty gun, and re-engage the three targets again with one round each.
This is done all in one string of fire, without stopping or pausing.
String 2 -
Load the gun or mags with six rounds each.
Same as String 1, but with two rounds on each target, reload, then re-engage with two rounds on each target, all one string.
This exercise is good practice for reloading on the fly, acquiring the target, transitions from target to target, and gun handling skills.
Remember to stay within your own personal comfort and safety levels.
When / if this becomes easy to do, use smaller targets or longer distances.
