"State Sen. Ed Hooper, R-Clearwater, said the Parkland shooter could have been stopped if a teacher had a gun."

That's a blanket statement that's not guaranteed. Look at the actions of a trained force from BSO and how they failed to do anything. A teacher with a gun is not guaranteed to stop a shooter.

Also school boards have zero experience on who and who should not carry a gun. Most of these PHD or Piled High and Deep educators are in fact dumber than a stump when it comes to practicality. After all look at how bad a job school systems across the country are doing in educating students properly.

The common sense approach from these politicians continues to fail to produce anything that will work.

3 easy things to guarantee safety inside a building, one way in/out, metal detectors and a police officer over looking this entrance/exit. (Except for one way fire exits)

Outside the school building is pretty much impossible.

More feel good do nothing. What our politicians are good at.

You couldn’t be more wrong. One person who is armed that is “willing” to actually confront a mass shooter is what is needed. BSO has proven they are not willing to. So LEO presence does nothing as they won’t act. OPD never acted either in the Pulse Shooting waiting for Swat to get there while Omar was actively shooting innocents
Someone with an actual set of balls and is not just out to protect themselves is needed
You can have hundreds of LEO armed w AR’s but it doesn’t mean a thing if the first responder isn’t willing to go in . Otherwise your just making a nice perimeter so the mass shooter can kill everyone in site
This was the lesson learned in Colombine. To go in immediately. Yet it’s obvously not implemented
Meanwhile Retired BSO Deputy Peterson is literally pissing In our faces as he makes tons of $ sitting on a fat retirement

So I say arm anyone who will actually respond and act to a mass shooter. Lives will be saved
