Well I finally took the leap and registered and am going to my first on march 28 at ok corral. I am using a g34 and right now I am looking to buy the belt, 3 pouches, 1 magnet pouch from black scorpion and a holster from a different place. Any info i should know before going? Thanks

180 is up down left or right, so be mindful of your reloads.

As for gear it sounds like you intend to shoot production so the magnet is a no go.

It's a awful long drive for a class but the Wyoming Antelope Club has an Intro to Action Shooting class this Saturday.

Make sure you read over the rule book and if you haven't even gone and watched a match I would suggest doing that before showing up, it will give you the chance to watch and pick up on the commands and give you a perspective on what to expect.

Other than that have fun and be safe, pistol matches are a blast.

Read the rule book.
Read the rule book again.
Don't worry about your score.
Watch how the top shooters do it.
Don't drop your gun or shoot the dirt.
Don't scare the range officer.
Enjoy.

When you go, figure out who the guys at the top of the score sheet are...and listen to them. Ignore the advice from everyone else at the range.

if you're a smart guy you can pick it up pretty quick, I think you'd be upset if you just went to watch and didn't take your stuff #-o , don't be afraid to let them know its your first time and watch the other guys go first. And yes listen to the top guys, they will be more than willing to help you out, you'll figure out who not to take advice from pretty quick [smilie=011.gif]
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

All in all, the folks who are dedicated enough to actually go to matches are a good bunch.
Unlike online forums, rarely is there anyone at a match who would mislead you, either on purpose or by ignorance.
Those kinds of people are just not there, at least not more than once.
Go with confidence.

Only managed to get to two of their Matches so far. Both were excellent. Now that the club is officially USPSA I am sure it will get even better.
FYI:
Have not been but understand they will also be holding a Steel Challenge monthly event. Put this on your must do list. Steel shooting has always been my favorite. Speed, accuracy, transition, mental focus, etc and no pasting :ber

With over a hour drive you better bet my gun is comming with me. [smilie=011.gif] hearing that metal ding is music to my ears. I wish I was off every weekend cause that would balance better then my shift work and entertaining the wife lol.

Cuban,

Your going to have a fun time at OK corral. I've been shooting there since they started USPSA the end of last year. Jack puts on a really good match and you need to stay for lunch after! LOL Good luck and take your time. There are a number of great shooters and very open to new shooters! So have fun and just take your time. _:

I would say Hi, but I'll be at the IDPA State match this month and next month for the USPSA Sectionals. Maybe the match in May or one of the Steel matches?

Look for Carolyn, she'll point you to the right people to hang with.

Enjoy and shoot straight!

I love it. Have had the chance to do it 4 times since march. I work every other weekend so its a little challenging. As i get better i will try to go to different places.
