I.C.O.R.E. matches

Post by Don P » Tue Jan 14, 2014 9:32 am

There are 2 I.C.O.R.E. matches being held in Central FL. for those who are wheel gun enthuiests.
The 3rd Saturday of each month the match is held at the Volusia County Gun & Hunt Club located off SR-44 5 miles east of I-4, link

The 4th Sunday of each month the match is held at the Central Fl Rifel & Pistol Club, link

If it doesn't fit get a bigger hammer, if it breaks it needed replacing anyway!

Tomorrow, January 19th, there will be an ICORE match at WAC in St. Petersburg. This was put together by Cliff Walsh. Attendance will be small until word gets out, as he hope to make this a regular event.

Wonder why Cliffy didn't go to FL Champ match?

There were only 4 Revo shooters there.

I don't speak for Cliff...or anyone else. And I'm not a revolver shooter.

I have had some revolver shooters say they don't feel welcome at USPSA matches because not many wheel gun guys go to them. I know when I was at the FL State USPSA match last year, I think there were a total of 5 wheel guns there.

Not sure if other areas have better participation than that.

I also understand that the upcoming rule changes for USPSA revolver have some guys not happy about it. Maybe that will drive ICORE to higher levels...who knows.

I'm just thinking out loud here.

Well...I know Cliff and I don't count him as an idiot. :ber I wouldn't be surprised if he has good reasoning for wanting to start ICORE in this area. And since there are only about 5 guys that ever shoot wheel guns at the bigger USPSA matches in this area, maybe he's on to something.

I take my words back. I didn't check that only 4 wheel gunners signed up for the match. I and I am not aware of any problems they have with USPSA. Good luck with any new match. More choices for everyone.

Excellent! I hope this grows so big you can't find a place for them all. It would be really cool to see.

They can explain it better than I, but what I heard centered around the new major/minor classification, allowing minor to load 8 rounds...yes, eight. The time to reload appears to outstrip the scoring handicap of minor/major, so the 2 extra rounds make for a more efficient stage. Effectively, shooting major with the old 625 will become obsolete and minor will be the rule of the day.

If I got that wrong, someone please step up and correct me.

That's about it, there was a lot of discussing about the subject before the USPSA BOD Voted on it.
I won't go into it ,but lot of reading on ENOS Forum. :ham'r
