The quietest platform your going to get is a bolt action rifle. For that, the best bang for your buck is going to be a CZ-452. Everyone needs a suppressed 10/22 also though.

For pistol, Mark I (II, or III), P22, Mosquito, Bushmark are all popular choice.

I have a P22, and GSG 1911, and a Sig 522 as hosts for my Silencerco Sparrow 22. All have been good with the can, the 1911 being the quietest IMHO. YMMV

Rifle:

As noted, 10/22s are cool ... but the most quiet is a bolt-action. Here's my Mossberg 142A cut to 16" and threaded for Outback can, along with my LRM Vidar integrally suppressed:

Pistol:
If you like 1911s, the Marvel Unit 1 is the cat's meow. Mine came with a test target of ten rounds into 0.682" at 50 yards! I can bust clays at 135 yards, suppressed .... Shown below with my suppressed Beretta 92:

CZ452, 10/22 (Vidar), Sig P220, Walther P22 are the ones I use.

FWIW ... I also have a Walther P22 as a suppressor host. Kids love to shoot it, because it's so light and quiet. OTOH, its accuracy is best described as minute-of-barn (not barn door, the whole damned barn).

It's great when I go to the range with a well-trained, safety-conscious youngster: I can hand them the supressed P22 and a brick of .22, and they will be otherwise engaged for the entire the day.

But I have no use for less-than-accurate guns. Your Mileage May Vary.

I purchased a Ruger 22/45 with the factory threaded barrel and am very happy with it. Browning also makes a version of the Buckmark with a threaded barrel but have never seen one.

No problems with the p22 breaking on you guys? I've heard some horror stories on the web...but I take that with a grain of salt. :-k

My P22 has been 100% reliable with a suppressor. But it won't run without one.

I bought it second-hand from a guy who could not get it to feed even one mag's worth without jamming. Got a great deal on it, too. IMHO, it's one of those designs that should always be suppressed to have sufficient back-pressure to cycle correctly.

No broken parts in many thousands of rounds.

But like I said, it's a dog in the accuracy department. [smilie=012.gif]

I use my P22 for erradicating Varmint. Workes Great for Tree Rat, rabbit and ferral feline.

I use this technique with BOTH my girls. Two bricks of subsonic and several of their own 22, they are good all day. At one range, my oldest then about 9 was the defactor RO on the 30YD Range, Yes she had adult supervision, nut only if you van call IPSCScott an adult.

I'll give $100.00 and my oldest daughter for that 10/22.

Sadly I had my P22 fail after less than one thousand rounds.

Front sight fell off.
Firing pin broke.

Shipped it back to S&W.

They paid freight both ways and did not charge for the repair.

Completely replacing the old slide.

Turn around time was about one month.

Hopefully I get a chance to shoot it this weekend.

The slide does look and feel slightly different than the last.
