Sent in a Form 4 less than a week ago and check was cashed yesterday. Did the form 1 online about a week ago as well, both into a trust, waiting to see how long each takes. I am hoping it's not 8 months, I am too impatient after paying $900 for a suppressor ](*,)

I checked with ATF today regarding the status of a Form 4 for a machine gun, submitted in the name of a living trust last May. I was told that "it should be completed in April." That's 11 months. Ugh.

I guess I made a huge mistake not e-filing the form 1's.
All on a trust.
I called to check the status and:

2-silencers and 1-sbr mailed 09-28-2013, checks cashed 10-08-2013, pending 11-11-2013---estimated approval August 2014
1-silencer and 1-sbr mailed 10-19-2013, checks cashed 10-29-2013, pending 12-13-2013---estimated approval September 2014

Got my approved Form 4 today for my WWII Thompson M1A1, which I'll shoot for the first time tomorrow.

NFA item: Machine gun
Form Type: Form 4, submitted on paper
Transferee Type: Living Trust
Forms Sent: 5/9/13
Approved: 3/11/14

I'm certainly going to try to e-file from now on.

Wow, nearly a year! Sad to read that as I just waded back into the title II world for the first time since 2011.

Over the last 2 weeks I have had 3 form 4's come back approved.

They all took about 10 months.

Court,

Is that 10 months from "Pending", check cashing, or mailing? I am awaiting a Form 4 that I mailed in July 2013, check cashed in mid August, and went pending 9/26/2013. I am also waiting on 3 Form 1's that were e Filed.

Thanks,
jkacg1

I know it sounds stupid, but I will take that as good news. NFA Branch is saying 9 months from pending. Not my first time to this rodeo, but I don't seem to get any more patient with experience.

Question for the hive mind: What does "pending" actually mean at the ATF?

Nice! Somewhere in that stack of 30,000 mailed in forms, is my Form 4! 6 months since Pending.

So, I took a look at the NFAtracker.com database and was able to see a fairly consistent wait time on paper Forms of 8 months from Pending over the last 4 months. I also posted about the eForms data here:
