I'm really surprised that with you being so much better than the common people and your time being so valuable that you can take the time to post on this forum.
I hope you do try to sue. I'm sure the ins co will have a good laugh and maybe if you do sue them you'll get a nice common judge that will slap you with/for filing a frivolous/nuisance lawsuit, but I doubt that could happen in small claims court.

Just received an e-mail from Geico stating "We regret the claim was filed in error...".

My reply was "See you in court".
For what?

For causing you to come on FSN, drop your pants, swing your dick around, and broadcast to everyone how your time is too valuable to go to the tag office with the common people?
They admitted fault in writing. $500 pain and suffering is fair from the stress of this bullshit, his wasted time is easily documentable. They won't show up to court. Default judgement. Collect.

There is no pain and suffering. All that there would be is a frivolous law suit.

He can't collect for his own time making a call or sending an email. Don't be ridiculous. He has no damages. Classic liberal snowflake- running to a court to whine if something bothers him.

Which is why the insurance company has taken the position it has. You may, perhaps easily, avoid any potential liability once the facts are established, but that may take some time and expense. You are confusing the bare elements to sell a vehicle with what is prudent to get your ass conclusively out of the loop of potential liability. They are not the same, which is why you are talking past the people telling you what was prudent. That getting out of that loop of liability was inconvenient is not an issue--that was your choice.

By the way, these same lessons should also apply to selling guns. I hear people here say "I don't have to do jack fuck when selling a gun!" And, yes, the bare minimum to avoid criminal liability, especially in Florida (for now) is not much. But potential civil liability is a whole other thing. Everybody is a tough guy until they get sued and have to deal with all that bullshit.
This is exactly why it’s a VERY bad idea to be forced to register personal property with the state. It’s a racket and you will always lose, one way or another.
