^^^Thank you , I seem to understand.

If I buy the eBay control unit for $56, can you point me to any instructions about removing the current one? I'm fairly good at doing this if I can see what I child be doing.

Thanks again fellas.

Can also give the self diagnostic function a try.

Scroll down just a little to find the pinout (description of what each wire does), and a circuit diagram (shows where each wire goes) just below that.

SOOOOOOOOO. I replace the control unit with another used on on line, and...it did not fix it. Same problem, fan is fine but control stuck on one setting. Any ideas for the next step?

Thank you guys once again.

Do you have the factory service manual for your vehicle? If not, there's no better investment if you're going to fix things yourself. The precisely documented troubleshooting steps are what makes them worth it.

AllData DIY is having a summer sale, i've had it for years and
it's paid for itself many times over. has all the factory repair
and diagnosing info with illustrations and even has factory
part numbers and labor times. well worth $13 !

Not really hands on anymore...I have a VOM and wrenches/sockets, no diagnostic knowledge of gear. One car family, the CRV has been hands free for eight years and 65K miles.

I'm afraid if I get the on-line info and the next step(s) will beyond my capabilities.

Thanks guys.

it's always handy to have and at $13 it's cheaper than the
control unit you bought that didn't fix the problem !
it includes step by step diag troubleshooting info, yes
some things require more than basic knowledge but it's
fairly intuitive.
