Older Mossberg 500 better?

Post by N4KVE » Fri Jun 30, 2017 8:35 am

Found a clean Mossberg 500 made in 1985 that's reasonably priced. Were the older ones better made vs the newer ones? GARY.

I think some of the older ones had cast trigger parts , if thats true than I'd say no not better
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

Thanks, but what trigger parts do current ones use? Forged/milled, mim, plastic? This was a LE trade in with nice wood.

I believe that at some point Mossy 500s used to only have a single action bar, then they went to the double bars but had some issues with binding, and then they added a spring steel clip to keep the action bars aligned better.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
and some rin up hill and down dale, knapping the chucky stanes to pieces wi' hammers, like sae mony road-makers run daft - they say it is to see how the warld was made!

Yes. That happened in 1970 when the Remington patent expired. The FFL that has this got a whole bunch from the same agency about 8 months ago. GARY
