870 Action Bar Lock

Post by century7 » Thu May 30, 2013 10:24 pm

I recently purchased a 2nd 870 Rem used( you can never have to many 870 right) The used one I bought seems to have an issue with the Action Bar Lock as it does not seem to stick out as far from the receiver as my other one. I have fired it and it works fine but you really have to make sure you push it all the way in to make sure it releases the action. I do not know if this is normal as maybe the two shotguns are of different ages. One has the integral safety lock and the other does not also the one with the issue has the ability to shoot 3" and the other one is able to shoot 3.5" shells.

There's a spring that applies tension to this part.
Maybe it's tired.

Thanks that is what I was thinking. Before I took it apart I wanted to see if there was anything else I was missing.

Had a similar problem, check your forend to see that the rails are fully screwed in tight. Mine was not and would not cycle with reliability .
