Won a Glock - Help me pick which one...

Post by jollymon32 » Mon Dec 12, 2016 11:44 am

So I had the extreme good fortune to win a Glock at a match this weekend. Which is great, because my trusty G19 is feeling a bit inadequate against the 6' black bear that has been coming to our feeder at night!

The gun will be primarily used in my rural woods property where it will be used to protect against: mostly snakes, followed by hog, and now the 6' black bear that is frequenting the feeder.

I was thinking of the 10MM G20 - but, CCI does not make ShotShell in 10MM and while you can shoot .357 shotshell through the G20, it does not cycle the slide.

So I am thinking the .357 Glock G32 (this is the same size as my G19 which makes it a bit easier to carry).

Any thoughts on this? And should I go for the G3 or the G4? My G3 G19 has been the epitome of reliability and this is very important to me.

I'd likely get a model 29, and with a 10mm you can get away with shooting a 40 cal shotshell in it.

G32 is a nice powerful easy to carry sidearm, and depending on your certificate I would say why pay more for a gen 4

For what you are trying to stop, i'd shy away from the super fast 357sig.

Get a 10mm like the 29 or 20.
Focus on your front sight... the rest should be blurry!

G20, you can shoot 40cal in it all day long. Snake shot can be found in 40. 10mm is also great bear repellant.

G40 is a nice option too. Mo' power with the 6" barrel. If you hate it all buy it off ya.

So as I researched the reloading aspect of 357sig, I kept wondering how CCI made a shot shell with a necked case. Turns out they don't, they make 357Mag shotshell, not 357Sig.....

Back to the drawing board.....

.357sig isn't really a round to plink with and reload. It's a incredible self defense round and highly recommend.
