Which 10MM?

Post by czharry » Wed Jun 08, 2016 2:50 pm

A friend asked me about getting a 10mm pistol. I really have not followed the manufacturers, but what's available now?
He is a lone wolf hiker, spending a few weeks per year hiking trails in Wyoming, Montana and other odd places. I'm not sure if this is his gun goal.
He did buy a XDS .45, but I think he's carrying his Colt Python with Buffalo Bore .357 mag., the one he carried in Vietnam in a Miami shoulder rig.
Desert Eagle is out, too spendy.
I would not recommend a Glock to him, but will provide the info.
There is EAA Witness (Tanfoglio) and maybe Sar or Canik(?).
Metal or plastic?

Any suggestions? Reviews?
.
There's a storm coming.

I said I wouldn't recommend one. I'm not a fan. Plus, I'm saving him from "glock leg". I don't know anything about a sar, just saw it mentioned some place.

I think I saw that a Glock 20 was 10mm.

I'll present all recommendations to him, though. The only one I saw a review on, was the EAA Witness P-Carry 10mm. I have the EAA compact .45ACP. (actually says Tanfoglio)

Glock does have its drawbacks. However, rugged and reliable are not on the list of them. Chances are greater of fouling one of those guns with a hammer than glock leg out in the woods.

Glock 40, end of story. It is their 10mm longslide.

I like my tanfofglio a lot. 12 rounds, all metal, fair price. I thick it is the MATCH model, (2nd from the top).

And dont forget the SW series (I forget the numbers).

2nd from the top of where?
Is the S&W a current offering?
I only ask all this because I haven't followed any guns in 10MM.

The S&W 10xx series is ancient--back when the FBI went to 10mm. Very good guns, though.

I would guess that well more than half of the new 10mms sold are the Glocks. Ted Nugent probably has something to do with that.

I'd like the Sig, but the price is a bit much.

I may be selling my Rock Island Armory 1911 in 10mm.

Colt still makes a couple of 10 mms.
They aren't cheap of course (MSRP $1099).
