Pocket Carry Possibilites

Post by supertones31 » Sat Apr 09, 2016 8:50 pm

Anyone ever tried to pocket carry in jeans any of the following:

SW Shield
XDS
Kahr CM/PM
Walther pk380

Or any suggestions besides the small .32s and .380s or the Glock 42,43

Thanks!

I suggest a J-frame.

Well then get your s';t together.
Get it all together. And put it in a backpack. All your s';t. So it’s together. And if you gotta take it somewhere, take it somewhere, you know, take it to the s';t store and sell it, or put it in a s';t museum, I don’t care what you do, you just gotta get it together.
Get your s';t together.

Right now, I think the smallest, cleanest will be the Beretta Nano. I don't see how a J-frame will fit a jean pocket without being very obvious that there is a revolver in your pocket, not to mention difficult to draw (although from a jean pocket, all guns are going to be difficult to draw).

Of the guns you list, I cannot think any of them except the Kahr would be small enough; its a little bigger than the Nano. I tried Walther PPS, which is about the size of the Shield, and it was too big. I could carry it in dress slacks, but not jeans.

I know you don't want to hear it, but you may need to look into the 380/32 pocket carries: Beretta Pico, Keltec/Ruger, or the Seacamp.

Of the guns on your list, the CM/PM9 is the only one that is pocket gun sized IMO.
As mentioned, if talking jean pocket just forget it and go IWB. Its much faster IME...

It really depends on the size of your ... pocket. [smilie=011.gif] And of course the type of jeans/pants you wear. If you're wearing a 32 inch waist designer skinny jeans, then forget about it. If you're larger and wear baggy jeans or cargo style pants, you have several options already mentioned.

Personally I don't even try pocket carry with jeans, and only occasionally with cargo shorts (front pocket). I don't like carrying in the large side pockets because the gun just whacks you in the leg when walking and running is not fun at all like that.

Of course, your mileage may vary. [smilie=cheers1.gif]

I carry a J frame in my front pocket a lot of times. I have never had any trouble retrieving it or with it being obtrusive. I wear my jeans a little bigger in the waist and only straight fit. Maybe homos in skinny jeans with no nuts, therefore no need for extra room would have trouble conceiling anything, but it's usually not the firearm,it's a person's clothing choice. Everyone has their own likes/dislikes,and a million people polled would yield almost as many different opinions. All I'm saying is.... J frame for the win [smilie=stirthepot.gif]

Hard to beat a J frame. I carry one in jeans, shorts whatever. A good pocket holster makes a big difference. If you want to carry a J frame you have to practice! I have A S&W 9MM Shield and while I love this gun it's not for pocket carry.

For a mouse gun I have as my EDC a KelTec P-3AT in .380 with a ctc laser, very portable and concealable, have experimented with many pocket and IWB holsters b4 settling on a Desantis G5 with a spare magazine pouch attached, I switch back and forth between it and a Talon IWB leather holster, it's like taking your wallet or your keys it becomes a programmed event taking your weapon each day, I never leave home without it, in fact the other day went to a show where firearms not allowed, I felt naked without it ....

Sig 938 or Ruger LCP, mostly the 938 unless I am in dress pants or something that the 938 is just to large for. I carried a P-3AT for nearly 10 years before retiring it.

Pocket carried a PM9 many times with and without a pocket sleeve. Without the sleeve the squareness of the slide printed nicely, the sleeve helped with that but seemed to take up a lot of space. Ditched it for other reasons.

Kel-tec's Pf9 with the much slimmer slide is a world of difference but it's a tough-love situation as it's a Kel-tec.

cw380, LCP, Bodyguard 380 are pocket guns. Or if you don't mind a 32acp a Kel tec isn't that bad either. If you can carry a bigger pocket gun like a cm9/j frame or similar do it for the simple fact of the availability of ammo. My cw380 has been flawless out of the box.

The Shield fits in most of my pants pockets, but jeans are a tight fit. Wouldn't want to have to make a fast draw, but it definitely has the element of surprise. Plus I prefer a 9mm vs. 380
