Canik TP9v2 vs Sig P250?

Post by IslandTimes » Wed Oct 28, 2015 11:28 am

Sold my Glock 19 a while back as it didn't fit my hand well, and am looking to pick up a hi cap 9mm to replace it in the $400 price range. I've not had a chance to fire either the Canik TP9v2 or the Sig P250, but I did get to handle a Sig at a shop and it felt pretty good in my hand.

Anyone here had experience with both? Which did you prefer, or would you recommend another $400 handgun?

Smith and Wesson has the M&P at similar price.

I had the v1 Canik, but I didn't care for it. Felt a bit cheap. Never handled the Sig.

SIG is by far not what they used to be, that German quality they were known for is gone.
I would go with the M&P

Every Sig I have owned has been top notch.

I have had the 1911 TACOPS, RCS (Commander 1911), 2 P227s (still have one) and 2 938s (still have one)

So, my experience is with metal guns and I have not had any of their polymer guns and perhaps that is where the lack of quality was mentioned? [smilie=popcorn.gif]

Bought a TP9v2 - 2 gen from JG Sales just for s';t & giggles ( Alcohol, boredom, credit card, Internet, bad juju ). After 2,000 rds fired I'm starting to think it's a keeper. Fit & finish is pretty good and it shoots pretty much point of aim, without any hiccups, including steel case Tula/wallyworld crap ammo.

The Sig P250 has a loooong heavy DA pull...
I'd say get the Sig P320 instead but its not a $400 gun.
I'm not a fan of the M&Ps with their hard-to-feel trigger reset.
If it MUST be $400 or less, look at the Ruger SR 9.
People that have them like them.

Thanks guys. Sounds like the P320 is a much better choice, so I think I'll start saving my pennies a little longer for that.

Tp9sf is way to go, if you haven't bought anything yet.

I saw the Canik at the last idpa match at markham. The shooter was very accurate with it and I witnessed no failures to fire. Seems to be well built for a $350 +/_ gun. Only issue was failure to go to slide lock, the shooter (also sells them) says this is a common problem with their mags.
