S&W bodyguard .380 issue

Post by Alex223FL » Mon Jul 10, 2017 3:40 pm

I've fired maybe 100-150 rounds or so through my bodyguard and it was working great, but the other day at the range while using the Winchester ammo, it misfired (dented the primer) like every 4-5th round.

Never had this before, and swore I've used the same Winchester range ammo.

It's always cleaned after use (basic cleaning) so just not sure if low grain target ammo was issue or what.

Anyone had similar issues?

Don't have a bodyguard but light primer strikes could be from dirty/broken firing pin or weak spring,

Have you taken the firing pin out?

Light primer strikes is a very well known issue with the 380 Bodyguard. Google it and you will find lots of info.

Let us know if you get it resolved.

No, I haven't taken the firing pin out. Probably should watch a youtube video or something and try that.

This has been my (limited) experience as well.

Known issue for a long time. I have a non laser version, installed this:

Easy install. No more light strikes.
